Present: Chr. R. Marshall, Vice-Chr. J. Dettorre, Sec. M.
Coughlin, T. Dettorre, S. Fiorini, J. Qualantona, T.
Saunders, Dir. J. Levesque. Also present: T. Scully, and
Donald Young.
Meeting was called to order by Chrm. R. Marshall at 3:02.
Minutes of three previous meetings were presented to Council
members to read by the Director.
M. Coughlin read the report of the meeting July 10, 1996
which was written by S. Fiorini. T. Saunders moved to
, approve which was seconded by S. Fiorini. So Voted.
M. Coughlin thanked S. Fiorini for taking over for her due
to a previous commitment.
The minutes of August 5, 1996 were read by M. Coughlin which
were taken by J. Qualantona.
J. Qualantona requested that the minutes show that in his
report the phrase "Executive Director recommended outreach
worker position be re-advertised" be deleted as it was not
in his minutes. The minutes were approved by T. Saunders
and seconded by S. Fiorini. So voted.
M. Coughlin thanked J. Qualantona for taking the minutes for
this rescheduled meeting.(Meeting began at 2:00 and M.
Coughlin arrived at 2:45p.m.)
The minutes of August 13, 1996 were approved as read by T.
Saunders and seconded by S. Fiorini. So voted.
Donald Young gave his expertise regarding the Enterprise
Fund and fielded many questions that Council members had.
T. Scully also answered questions from Council members
that had been new policy concerns.
Members were grateful for their time and efforts and thanked
both gentlemen.
A brief discussion ensued regarding the use of the Senior
Center Hall for the Girl Scouts' sleep-over. T. Saunders
moved to table the request until more information was made
available which was seconded by S. Fiorini. So voted.
Chr. R. Marshall informed the board that the alarm system
would be reactivated.
A discussion was held regarding the use of the vans by the
school system.
T. Dettorre made a motion that we endorse the use of the COA
vehicles for temporary use for the Special Ed. Dept. This
was seconded by J. Dettorre. Because of the wording, T.
Dettorre withdrew his motion and J. Dettorre withdrew his
second.
The new motion by T. Dettorre was to move that COA endorse
further research by the director regarding the use of COA
vehicles for~he transportation of Spec. Needs students which
was seconded by J. Dettorre. Voting in favor were T.
Saunders, J. Qualantona, T. Dettorre, and J. Dettorre.
Opposed were S. Fiorini and M. Coughlin. Motion carried on
a 4-2 vote.
M. Coughlin inquired if a thank you note to Mary Dionne had
been written by the director for her file for her work on
the Homecoming project. J. Levesque said it had been done
and M. Coughlin thanked her.
The next meeting will be held on Monday, October 7, 1996, at
the Senior Center, 90 Colon St., Beverly, Ma. 01915.
J. Dettorre moved to adjourn seconded by J. Qualantona. So
voted.
Meeting adjourned at 5:46p.m.
