Minutes BCOA August 2019Beverly Council on Aging Director's Meeting Meeting Minutes Date: AUGUST 6, 2019 Place: BCOA Members Present: Claire -Marie Hart, Bob Hobbs, Cynthia Montalbano, Susan Feeney Jessica Wistran Esquire Staff Present: MaryAnn Holak, Samatha Kossow Meeting called to order 2:40 pm Secretary's Report: Minutes were accepted as written from the last meeting. Director's Report Building Concerns and Usage A power washer and a bike rack have been purchased for the Center. An air conditioner coil needs to be replaced in Rec Room A; unit in the Program Office to be replaced at a cost of approximately $3000 Administration and Finance YTD final FY' 19 budget was reviewed. New chairs are on order. On June 12, 2019 the new bus arrived and is on the road. Senior Clerk is now a full -time position as of July 11, 2019. The Annual Report to the State regarding Formula Grant is due soon. The Annual Report to the Mayor is also due soon. Programs and Event Samatha handed out information to the Board on Senior Day in the Park. Discussion on the high possibility of rain changing the venue for Senior Day. Sam and Mary Ann will make the call on Wednesday to let us know if it will be the park or the BHS Field house. We held a Girl Scout Tea, in June. Mobile Market a continued success. Game Night Thursday August 22, 2019. 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Held in Rec Room A. Ring Toss held outdoors, weather permitting. Livin' the Good Life -with Simone French as host. Program on End of Life Planning which was the topic of her "Girl Scout Gold Award." Community Garden is being harvested — it's been a great growing season. September is Senior Center Month. Information on events TBA. Meetings /Activities Clients /Clients /Clients of Concern Mary Ann attended a meeting at the office of the Mayor regarding Beverly Hospital's Needs Assessment. Going away party for Patti on July 10 and Blair on July 31S Elders at Risk Task Force meetings. Held on June 28 and July 26 BCOA has made available Farmers Market Coupons in the amount of $2.50 to Seniors. COA Appreciation program at Sr. Care in Beverly held on August 20 from 2 to 4 pm. Looking for interest in attending from the Board. Senior Care Annual Meeting at Cruise port, Gloucester on Thursday Sept. 26 $85.00 pp. Personnel Updates Interviews for Activities Coordinator - interviewed 6; one finalist, job has not been offered yet. Interviews for Transportation Coordinator - interviewed 3 people -lots of resumes but most do not have the CDL license. This is a needed requirement for the position.
