Dettorre, Vice Chrm. R. Marshall, Sec. M. Coughlin, S. Fiorini, J. Qualantona, J. Jason and K. Fitzgibbons, Director. Also present were Jack Cook and Derek Wilson. Absent: J. Sullivan. R. Marshall moved to accept the secretary' 4seconded by J. Qualantona. So voted. The Director stated that Dr. Chase, Supt. Of Schools, had called and stated they would not be using the hall for the teachers' workshops. R. Marshall gave a report on the meeting with M. Coughlin, the school's business manager, and himself of the Building Committee, relative to the concerns in using the hall. As stated by Director Fitzgibbons, the school department decided on another facility. Director Fitzgibbons informed the board that Gordon Chafe was the new custodian. Discussion was held concerning the line dancing group running trips in conflict with plans of the Center. Council advised the Director to inform the person in charge'not to continue advertising the trips that would be in conflict with Center activities. Discussion ensued regarding whether Meals on Wheels position should be a city position or not. M. Coughlin suggested we get an opinion from the Mayor. R. Marshall motioned to table further discussion, seconded by M. Coughlin, until we heard from the Mayor. Voting in the affirmative were: R. Marshall, J. Jason, and M. Coughlin. Voting in the negative were: S. Fiorini, and J. Qualantona. Motion carried. Discussion continued on where to get the money to pay the current worker. R. Marshall made a motion seconded by S. Fiorini to ask the Friends for the money for a month. Motion carried. J. Qualantona moved to speak to the Mayor regarding transferring funds to help with this problem. It was seconded by M. Coughlin. So voted. The Mayor and City Solicitor Handley arrived at 3:45 P.M. Mayor Scanlon discussed several concerns with the board including the transportation program, pay and hours of personnel presently at the Center, and the possibility of vendors for a better contractual approach. This would entail writing proposals and in this proposal should be stated what concerns must be answerable to the Director or the Board. Mayor Scanlon and City Solicitor Handley gave several viable suggestions to board members for their consideration. At 4:36 P.M. both gentlemen left. Board members expressed appreciation for this informative meeting with the Mayor. M. Coughlin made a motion seconded by J. Qualantona to pay $425.00 to Robert Marshall, Jr. for work rendered. So voted. R. Marshall did not vote. The next meeting will be held March 12, 1996 at 3:00 P.M., 90 Colon St., Beverly, Ma. at the Senior Center. M. Coughlin made a motion seconded by J.
