Secretary's Report: Minutes were accepted as written from the March meeting.
Director's Report
Building Concerns and Usage
Mayor scheduled to hold a meeting at Senior Center on April 2" d
While Chip is on vacation, Brendon is in charge.
Clogged drain was fixed by Drain Pro and School Dept. plumber, John Gagnon
Mayor's Office requested use of a driver and van to show the "Master Plan" consultants around
Beverly. Dennis agreed to cover this request.
Contacted Mike Collins via e -mail regarding installation of benches. Quoted $1,900.00 dollars
from Raffa Construction. Waiting to hear back from Mike on this.
City Benefits Fair to take place in the main hall on May Stn
Last day for Tax Prep Program was April 14
Administration and Finance
YTD Budget reviewed.
FYI 2020 budget is underway
MaryAnn is requesting to move the Sr. Clerk and Outreach Worker positions to full -time in
FY'20.
Beverly Hospital has placed a request for the letter that deeded the land to us for one dollar
for ninety -nine years. We are looking into it.
Programs and Events
Volunteer Luncheon was held this morning. Job well done by Gail Murley. Good food and was
well attended.
St Patrick's Day Celebration was held on March 14 was a huge success. Over one hundred
seniors attended.
Meagan Riche, Community Engagement Fellow, attended today's board meeting. She reviewed
with us her recent workshop on engaging seniors in environmental and civic issues. At the
workshop, the top three issued identified were; Climate Change, water reduction and water front
preservation. Beverly Waste Reduction and Circle Earth co- sponsored the event. Seniors were
engaged and event was well received.
The board reviewed the policy and procedures for choice of Senior of the Year, along with the
Senior of the Year nomination form to be used this year.
Older Americans Month is May.
AARP will be sponsoring a Shredding Day June 1s - five box limit per car.
Meetings /Activities Clients
Police were called to have a client of concern escorted from the Center.
NSCC OT student's presentation on April 24 Relaxation and Meditation.
We are unable to fulfill requests this year for Clean -up projects.
Breakfast Club - final Breakfast of the year April 11 at 8:15 at the Center.
Information was given to the Board on Essex County Estate Planning Council. Mary Ann and
Patti Rice met with Bailey Bishop, a member of The Essex County Estate Planning Council. The
Board has decided to not go forward with their proposal at this time.
Board Training with EOEA rescheduled to May 9 th 12 "30 to 3:30 pm
Triad Council met with Blair and Sam in attendance.
Personnel Updates
New Community engagement fellow to start in August 2019
New Assistant Director Samatha Kossow started on March 7th
Open positions — Transportation Coordinator and Outreach Coordinator
Announcements: Bob Hobbs may not be able to attend the May meeting.
