March 2019 Veterans Council MinutesVETERANS' COUNCIL * *Agenda ** DATE: Thursday, February 28, 2019 City Hall, 3r Floor, S:OOpm Jerry Guilebbe called the meeting to order at S:OOpm. Veterans' council members present: Jerry Guilebbe, President David Perinchief Paul Weinberg Robert Laws Ron Genest Chuck Clark Cory Paulette Advisory members and guests: Jan Pierce and Terry Mailloux Reading and Approval of the Minutes The minutes were handed out to all members in attendance for review. Jerry Guilebbe made a motion to accept the minutes. Motion was seconded and passed. COMMITTEE REPORTS Financial Report — Current account balance is $13,872.00 A discussion was held regarding setting up an enterprise fund for donations made to the council. Per David Perinchief, at the end of the year there is approximately $70,000.00 left over from Chapter 115. He is going to ask for $1,500.00 to be put aside for a Homecoming event. UNFINISHED BUSINESS Flag Retirement Ceremony —A flag retirement ceremony with Boy /Girl Scouts is scheduled for June 14, 2019 @ 5pm at Lynch Park. Memorial Day — On May 26, 2019, a wreath will be posted at the Navy Memorial at Independence Park. The Collings Foundation will provide a Sherman tank with five rounds at Independence Park. VETERANS' COUNCIL * *Agenda ** DATE: Thursday, February 28, 2019 City Hall, 3r Floor, S:OOpm NEW BUSINESS Beverly Vietnam Veterans Memorial — Chuck Clark has completed the voiceover for the mobile app at the Veterans Memorial Plaza. Fundraising — A discussion was held regarding different ways to raise funds such as a lunch /banquet at the Collings Foundation museum. Grants - The SCHRAB Grant for grave restoration was approved. The grant is for $15,000.00. A discussion was held regarding a grant available through Costco. American Legion 100 Anniversary — The annual golf tournament will be held on July 12, 2019. There will be a cookout held on July 13, 2019 and a formal dinner in the upstairs hall of the Spear Post on July 14, 2019. David Perinchief will contact The National Guard to see if they can send a Howitzer. GOOD OF THE ORDER ADJOURNMENT Jerry Guilebbe made a motion to adjourn. The motion was seconded and carried.
