Jerry Guilebbe called the meeting to order at 5:00pm.

Reading and Approval of the Minutes
Buddy Rehal made a motion to approve the minutes. Motion was seconded and carried.

COMMITTEE REPORTS
Financial Report — Connolly Bros. helped us do a donation drive to help match the donation
they are making to give the veterans council. An additional $1,575.00 was raised. The account
balance is now $14,000.63. Connolly Bros is making a $7,500.00 donation on February 7, 2019.
These donations will go towards repairs that Chapter 115 will not cover.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS
Veterans Day & Vietnam Veterans Memorial Dedication — All bills for Veterans Day and the
Vietnam Veterans Memorial Dedication have been paid. Bills totaled $230.00, two wreaths
($65.00 each) and videographer ($100.00).
Fundraising Events — Shooting tournament will take place again.
NEW BUSINESS
Four Chaplain Sunday— Will be held at 2pm on February 3, 2019 at the First Parish Church
Congregational in Manchester -By- The -Sea. Everyone is invited.
Vietnam Veterans Day Program —There will be a ceremony at Vietnam Veterans plaza on March
29, 2019 @ 5pm. There will also be a ceremony on March 30, 2019 at 10am at Beverly Hospital.

Boy Scouts /Girl Scouts — Flag Retirement Ceremony on June 14, 2019 at Lynch Park.
Memorial Day — National Guard will not be able to attend the parade this year due to training
so there will be no artillery unit. Col. Judge is trying to get an artillery unit from New
Hampshire. The Collings Foundation is now fully operational as a museum, which means that
we can only get the tanks on Memorial Day, not before.
Privateer Rum Event — Gin Wallace of Main Streets and her event coordinator are going to work
with David Perinchief's office to put together an event with Privateer Rum Distillery. The event
will be held at Lynch Park. Privateer Rum is offering off -hour tours for veterans.
Discount for Veterans — David Perinchief is working with Main Streets to develop a card for
veterans that will offer a 10% discount to Beverly veterans at participating small business in
Beverly.
Veteran in Need —The VA HUD -VASH contacted David Perinchief program about a young
veteran who is having serious issues including martial issues. He will need to spend a few days
in a hotel. His disability is the only income for the family. Buddy Rehal made a motion to allow
David to spend up to $500.00 on this veteran. Motion was seconded and carried.
Badge of Merit — Ken McKay has found 73 names of Beverly /Salem residents who were
awarded the Badge of Merit. The Revolutionary War Museum in Philadelphia, the Smithsonian,
and the Purple Heart Hall of Honor in New York are all working to verify this information.

Town Fair Tire is offering a 10% discount for veterans.
St. John's Prep. Varsity Hockey Team held a clothing drive for the Veterans Northeast Outreach
Center in Haverhill. They donated five bags of brand new clothes.

Chuck Clark made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Motion was seconded and carried.
The next meeting will be February 28, 2019.
