of Chairman Carbone who was excused from today's meeting.
The minutes of the December 13, 2018 meeting were approved and accepted as mailed.
The Board discussed amending the tobacco regulations changing the language for the
adult -only tobacco stores. There shall be signs posting the legal sales age of 21 and no
admittance to anyone under 21. Clerks must ID persons entering business to verify the
age. Allowing someone under 21 into the store and making a sale would be two violations.
The Board agreed that they would be comfortable with stacking the violations in this
situation.
Joyce Redford will make the edits in the regulations. The Board will look them over and
send them to the solicitor before voting. Sue Higgins motioned to approve and Mr. Alpine
seconded.
Mr. Burke asked the Board if they would like to further discuss the presentation from
Stephen Jones, MD concerning the risks of natural gas. All agreed they would not take any
action at this time.
Mr. Burke had a few updates for the Board.
Mr. Reale has started the choke saver training classes for restaurant personnel. Six different
dates have been set aside to conduct the training which is sponsored by Northeast
Regional Ambulance.
The new Bring Your Own Bag ordinance went into effect on January 1S The Health Department
conducted spot checks of 35 to 40 establishments of which there were eleven violations. Letters
were sent out to the establishments and there is a 30 day grace period which allows them to
correct the violations.
Mr. Burke attended several Institutional Biosafety Committee meetings for some of the biosafety
companies.
The next scheduled meeting is February 14, 2019.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 a.m.
