December 2018 MinutesBeverly Council on Aging Director's Meeting Minutes Date: December 4, 2018 Place: BCOA Members Present: Claire -Marie Hart, Bob Hobbs, and Cynthia Montalbano, Jessica Wistran Esquire guest: Sherry Lambert, Chair of H/W COA Staff Present: MaryAnn Holak, Jessica Waggett Meeting called to order: 2:40 pm Secretary's Report: Minutes were accepted as written from the November meeting. Director's Report Building Concerns and Usage The Mayor along with the Planning Dept shared RFP requirements for the reuse meeting for Briscoe. Plastic Bag recycling meeting was held on November 26t Waiting on replacement for the back - parking lot pole light. On November 26t the Alarm sounded Chip responded at 8:30 pm. The Beverly Community Council will meet on December 11t Administration and Finance Budget reviewed. Newsletter redesign training on November 28t for the January 2019 issue. City Council has accepted /approved new vehicle grant in the amount of $56,000, from DOT and a match of $14,000 from the Enterprise Fund to pay the 20% match required. November 27 both Mary Ann and Jessica took part in the DOT site visit. Several changes will be implemented to the transportation dept; Driver drug and alcohol testing, Transportation policy change to clarify maintenance schedule of lifts. City does not have current Title 6. Meeting with Bruce and Mayor on November Stn Programs and Events Shine enrollment period ends on December 7tH Collaboration with Brookwood School 3d event. tH Mobile Market was attended by 102 seniors on November 15 November Veterans Breakfast was successful, 3 chefs from Residence at Riverbend served omelets to 100 seniors. NSCC genealogy students visited the center on November 20t Sleep workshop is being presented by the NSCC OT. Abby Battis from Historic Beverly, presented a workshop on sculptures in Beverly, the event was well attended. Holiday gift baskets will be distributed to needy seniors this month; collections are still underway. Volunteer breakfast on December 4tH Meetings /Activities Clients MAH was part of a panel discussion at North Shore /Cape Ann Area health network meeting on November 27t Topics; needs Assessment and strategic planning for age and dementia friendly communities. Coffee hour with Mayor Cahill will take place at the center on December 6tH Personnel Updates Jessica Waggett has announced that she will be moving on to another position. She has been a great asset to the Center and will be missed. We wish her well in her new position. Gordon College Social Work intern is starting in January.
