Kevin O'Reilly presided.
Myron Schirer -Suter made the motion, seconded by Marshall Handly, to accept the minutes of
the regular meeting of May 22, 2018 as read. Motion passed.
Public Presentation

Committee Reports
Personnel: Joanne Panunzio reviewed the evaluation of the Library Director. The board
discussed sharing the evaluation with the Mayor.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) FY2018 Budget: FY2018 closes on Saturday. 2) FY2019: Proposed budget passed as
presented, except for a decrease in the heating line. The library qualifies for state aid. 3)
Personnel: Ona Ridenour has been promoted to the Head of Communications position. Brianna
Sullivan, who worked at the library part -time, has been promoted to the full time Senior Library
Assistant (Technical Services) position. The Assistant Communications Librarian position is
being offered to an internal candidate. 4) Union negotiations have not yet started. 5) Training for
supervisors: Department heads viewed a two -part supervisory webinar. A discussion of the
webinar was held at the last department head meeting. 6) Community Meetings: Anna Langstaff,
Meghan Karasin, and Margie McClory attended the First Thursdays community meeting in
Holcroft Park at Gloucester Crossing to promote summer reading and give away free books. 7)
Summer Reading Kick -off was successfully held on June 20 with over 900 people attending.
Anna Langstaff, Allison Babin, and Lisa Ryan promoted the new Adult Summer Reading
program. Anna Langstaff and Allison Babin also attended the Party on the Plaza at Ellis Square
on June 21 to promote Adult Summer Reading. Anna Langstaff attended the Police Officer of the
Year Award Ceremony at Landmark School. The library has been collaborating with Historic
Beverly. 8) Building Issues: One AC compressor on the roof is being replaced, which is not part
of the AC repairs needed for the Sohier Room. 9) Security: A patron has been attempting to hug
and kiss library staff, which will be addressed. 10) Trustee appointment: No update on Anthony
Kline, or on the appointment of Colleen Michaels. Anna Langstaff will email Martha Lewis. 11)
Allison Babin shared the Summer Program Guides of library programs for all ages.

New Business
1) Acceptable Use Policy: Library Trustees reviewed the current Acceptable Use Policy. After
some discussion, Myron Schirer -Suter made the motion, seconded by Mary Behrle, to:
approve the Acceptable Use Policy, as amended. Motion passed.
2) Internet Use Policy: Library Trustees reviewed the current Internet Use Policy. After some
discussion, Joanne Panunzio made the motion, seconded by Marshall Handly, to:
approve the Internet Use Policy, as amended. Motion passed.
3) Security Policy: Library Trustees reviewed the current Security Policy. After some discussion,
Myron Schirer -Suter made the motion, seconded by Marshall Handly, to:
approve the Security Policy, as amended. Motion passed.
The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at 6:OOPM at the Beverly
Public Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:15PM.
