1:30pm - The meeting was called to order by Joseph Detorre. Tom Saunders made a motion to
accept the May meeting minutes, Ellen Skryness seconded and the minutes were accepted.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT:
BUILDING USAGE for May involved four Bingos, five Recreation Department classes and one
League of Women Voters.
BINGO FREPORTS were passed out. The Enterprise account is used for improvement expenses.
COA budget is spent down. There is a budget hearing at City Hall on Tuesday, June 8 at 7:30pm.
OPEN HOUSE - Fifty people artended and approximately ten new people have been coming to the
center from this open house.
ALTERNATIVES are posted when the Council closes for holidays. The Board of Directors for July
1, 1999 was passed around for proofing. A thank you letter was read from Peter Gilmore for the use
of the building. A motion to accept the Director's Report was made by Tom Saunders and seconded
by Bob Marshall. The Director's report was accepted.
OLD BUSINESS:
TIME/COST STUDY for overtime reviewed for Gordon. $7,750 overtime for Gordon, $3,000 from
enterprise because the City Council meetings were not expected when Gordon's overtime was done.
A suggestion was made to add Leslee, Sheila and Robert Roberts to this time/cost study.
TOM SAUNDER'S term is up. A card was given to him. We will miss him. The Senior of the
Year box is out and the nomination form was also put into the newsletter. The respondents are asked
to fill out the entire form, not just the person's name. A widow's social group is being started. Tom
said that the Veteran's Administration is helpful to veteran's widows. COA is working with the
Veteran's Council and other COA'S on this.
SENIOR DAY IN THE PARK will be $5 this year. The bands, tents and everything has gone up.
Last year it was $3. The Kazoo Band will attend this event. Their picture was in the Globe resulting
from a visit to Rep. Cahill. Bob Marshall asked if the minutes were being sent to City Hall. Leslee
will check with Tom Scully. Presently the minutes are emailed from Ellen to Leslee and Leslee
emails them to Tom.
NEW BUSINESS:
THE EMERGENCY CONTACT Information form was passed around for the Board to fill out.
NANCY WINTER begins as the new chair on Thursday, July 1 at 1:30pm. Ellen made a motion to
accept the change of meeting day for the July meeting only and Tom Saunders seconded.
A REPLACEMENT is needed for Tom Saunders and a request was made for nominations.
Reliability, confidentiality and interest in Elder concerns are needed. John Archer had been
suggested but he doesn't live in Beverly and needs a waiver from the Mayor which was not given.
