The City of Lynn is the lead on this grant with Beverly serving as a partner in this effort. With your approval, this multi -year grant will be used by the Beverly Police Department's Community Impact Unit to provide a post overdose follow up program with first responders. Massachusetts General Law Chapter 44 Section 53Arequires both city council and mayoral approval before any grant or gifts to the city can be expended for their prescribed purpose. This grant funding will be used to purchase naloxone and supplies for the Beverly police and fire departments to use on substance abuse and opioid overdose response emergency calls. With your approval, this grant funding will be used to secure and administer naloxone by our first responder personnel and potentially save lives by combatting the current opioid crisis.
