Place: Beverly Farms Branch Library Board members present: Mary Behrle, Anthony Kline, Ivy Mahan, Kevin O'Reilly, Myron Schirer -Suter Board members absent: Margaret Altman, Marshall Handly, Neil Olson, Joanne Panunzio Others present: Anna Langstaff, Allison Babin, Bryant Ayles Recorder: Allison Babin Kevin O'Reilly presided. Mary Behrle made the motion, seconded by Ivy Mahan, to accept the minutes, as amended, of the regular meeting of May 23, 2017 as read. Motion passed. Public Presentation None Committee Reports Personnel: No report. Administration: No report. Finance: No report. Long Range Planning: No report. Report of the Library Director 1) FY2017 Budget: Anna Langstaff reviewed the FY2017 budget. 2) FY2018 Budget: Approved as presented to City Council. 3) Personnel: Margie Bonefant will be the new Head of Children's Services, effective July 1. Martha Morgan has been hired for Margie's former position of Assistant Reference Librarian /Assistant Children's Librarian. Kate Carpine has been hired for the part -time Assistant Children's Librarian's position, formerly held by Martha Morgan. The Head of Young Adult Services position has been offered to, and accepted by, a candidate with a start date of July 24. 4) Building Issues: Repairs on the AC units cost about $4,000. DPW chemically cleaned and power washed the AC units, which seems to have helped. $10,000 has been added to the repair line for needed repairs to the door hardware for the Essex and Winter Street entrances. 5) Teen Renovation and Expansion Project: $16,558 has been raised so far. Mini Golf Fundraiser is scheduled for Sept. 23 and 24. 6) Street Construction: The new sidewalk on Cabot Street has impacted the route of the Gran Prix, which will make the library inaccessible to cars during the race on July 26. 7) Summer Reading Kick Off. An estimated 950 people attended this event on June 21. 8) Upcoming Programs and events: Summer Sounds, 3D printing class, summer reading events for children and teens including Circus Minimus, Creature Teachers, and Acting Class. Communications None. Unfinished Business 1) Strategic Plan: Anna Langstaff reported on the second meeting of the Strategic Planning Committee in which the SOAR exercises were reviewed and Mary Behrle led a Community Visioning and Goal Setting exercise. The plan is due to the state by October 1. New Business 1) Bryant Ayles, Director of Municipal Finance, presented information about the Library's Trust Funds. 2) Acceptable Use Policy: Library trustees reviewed the Acceptable Use Policy. After some discussion, Anthony Kline made the motion, seconded by Myron Schirer -Suter to: approve the Acceptable Use Policy. Motion passed. 3) Public Internet Use Policy: Library trustees reviewed the current Public Internet Use Policy. Anthony Kline made the motion, seconded by Mary Behrle to: approve the Public Internet Use Policy. Motion passed. 4) Security Policy: Library trustees reviewed the current Security Policy. After some discussion, Anthony Kline made the motion, seconded by Mary Behrle, to: approve the Security Policy. Motion passed. There will be a Library Trustees — Long Range Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at 6:OOPM at the Main Library. The next regular meeting will be on Tuesday, September 19, at 6:OOPM at the Main Library. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:40PM.
