Cook calls the meeting to order at 6:45 p.m.
Sign: Rasta Pasta Pizzeria - 380 Rantoul Street (380 Cabot Street)
The applicant relocated from their prior location at 38 Rantoul Street and is submitting an
application for the relocated wall sign, in response to an enforcement action. Cook asked
that they trim the sign on the top and bottom to fit within the frame of the sign band,
rather than attached on top of the trim.
There being no further questions or comments regarding this matter:
Cook: Moves to approve the wall sign, with the condition that it be
trimmed to fit within the frame of the sign band. Flannery seconds the
motion. The motion carries (6 -0).
Sign: en fuego Cocina Mexicana - 131 Rantoul Street
The applicant is proposing two wall signs, one on each side facing Rantoul Street and
Railroad Avenue. The signs are the same size on each fagade. Finch expresses concerns
about the barn board material, legibility of the text, and potential discoloration of the
copper metal over time. Applicant indicates that whitewash painting behind it will help
the letters stand out. He explains that the lettering will be patina copper to start.
There being no further questions or comments regarding this matter:
Flannery: Moves to approve the wall sign as presented. Finch seconds
the motion. The motion carries (6 -0).
Sign: Mobil - 44 Dodge Street
The applicant is proposing a change to a gasoline price sign on a freestanding ( "pylon ")
sign. The manual price sign will be replaced with an LED sign. The sign will be the same

square footage as the existing sign. And one price will be listed instead of the existing
two prices listed. Cook asks about the height of the existing and proposed
numbers /letters. It is estimated that they are currently 14 -15 inches, which is greater than
allowed in the ordinance. The proposed numbers are slightly larger.
There being no further questions or comments regarding this matter:
Cook: Moves to approve the gasoline price sign as presented. Ulrich
seconds the motion. The motion carries (6 -0).
Sign: Eva's Farm Organic Butcher Shop - 15 Enon Street
The applicant submitted an application for a freestanding sign where there currently
exists a freestanding sign, after an enforcement action. Cook notes that the existing
freestanding sign and sandwich board sign were never approved. The freestanding sign
would require a variance. The placement of the existing sandwich board sign is not in
compliance. The regulations for sandwich board signs intended for them to be located in
areas that do not have parking in front of the building entrance.
It is also noted that the new wall sign on the building will need to be reviewed. Cook
states that the previous wall sign at this location was approved, so a new sign in this
location is potentially approvable. Cook asks the applicant to come back and present the
wall sign on the building for the DRB to review.
May Draft Meeting Minutes
Cook asks if there are any questions or edits to the May meeting minutes. A couple
ministerial corrections are discussed.
There being no further questions or comments regarding this matter:
Cook: Moves to approve the May 4, 2017 minutes, as amended. Finch
seconds the motion. The motion carries (6 -0).
Adjournment
Cook asks if there is any other business to come before the Design Review Board this
evening. There being none:
Cook: Moves to adjourn the meeting. Flannery seconds the motion. The
motion carries (6 -0).
The meeting is adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
