Meeting Minutes

Meeting Called to Order: 2.35 pm by Bob Hobbs, Vice Chairperson
Secretary's Report September minutes accepted as written_
Director's Report
Building
A new professional coffee set up has been added to the Center_ There should not be an increase
in cost to run the new unit_
The American Red Cross has cancelled the blood mobile that had been scheduled at the Center_
Landscaping was done and looks great_
Proposed study of the building- MaryAnn will check to see if Gas and Electric will do an energy
audit study of the building for free_
Administration and Finances
The Department of Transportation (DOT) audit response report was submitted to DOT on
September 30, 2016_
Decision made to defer changes for one year to our Newsletter contract with Liturgical Press, in
order to seek out other options_
The new copy machine is in house, however, it has yet to be connected_
Once connected the machine will need to be monitored as to copies made for other than
BCOA work_ Beverly Health Dept_ usage needs to be recorded and usage needs to be paid for
out of the City Budget and not the state Formula Grant
The BCOA has been awarded a Title #3 grant from Senior Care_ The award is for outreach in
the amount of approximately $5,000.00_
Budget is at 26% and numbers are on target_
State Grant breakdown to be announced at the November board meeting_
Mileage reimbursement that was at twenty cents per mile has now increased to now forty-five
cents per mile_
Senior Day in the Park made over twelve thousand dollars_ We did not lose money on this event_
A Tufts Foundation grant of $800.00 has been awarded to fund our Pizza and Game Night with
area college students-
Meetings/Activities/Clients
Scholarship Committee met before the Board Meeting today_ Several scholarships for trips have
been granted_
Standards of Independence Committee_ No meeting as yet_
At Risk Task Force training to take place_
Bocce is now a game that is played outside of City Hall_
October 13 from 10 =00 to 11 =00 am- Intergenerational event planned, Grandparents and
Grandchildren to be entertained by Curious Creatures_
Veterans Agent to be interviewed on Bev Cam
November 8 th Veterans Day lunch_ Entertainment will be a 5 piece wind ensemble from the US
Navy_
New Business
Mr_ Cris Chirco's appointment to the board is pending_
