Meeting Called to Order= 2.35 pm by Bob Hobbs, Vice Chairperson
Secretary's Report: June meeting minutes were accepted as written_
Director's Report:
Building Updates
Landscaping was done and it looks great
Soon a new professional coffee set up will be added to the Center_ The only cost for
this set up will be to have the new unit plumbed_
Administration and Finance
Annual Report was distributed to the Board_ The nine page report touches on the many services
that are available thanks to the BCOA_
Core Services -The Senior Center staff provides social services, education, health, nutrition,
transportation, recreation, and leisure time activities and resources to older adults and their
families_ Services emphasize independent living and life -long leaming and aligned with the
dimensions of wellbeing including the social, intellectual, physical, emotional, financial,
community and occupational aspects of healthy aging_
The newsletter contract is up for renewal_ Some discussion on possibly looking into another
vendor_
September 30 a new copy machine is due to arrive_
Department of Transportation Audit Report for the State is due on Sept_ 30
Discussion on the level funded budget_
Heating line item was cut by the city during the budget process in June, if needed the city will
certainly come through_
Mary Ann noted that the Center went five months without an Activities Director_ Patti Rice has
been on the job just about 6 months now_
The impact that had not only on the budget but on the additional work put on the
Staff who did a great job covering_
Ent_ Fund is well with approximately $140,000 reserve_
Discussion on the "Companion Program," that $30,000 was donated to that purpose to be utilized
within the program-
Meetings/Activities/Clients
Scholarship Committee met before the Board Meeting today_ Several scholarships for trips have
been granted_
Standards of Independence Committee_ No meeting as yet_
Awards Committee had a wrap up meeting on Senior Day in the Park_
Meet and Greet Julie Jackson, our Community Engagement Fellow, will be held on Tuesday
September 13 9.30- 10.30am
New Business
Nominate a new slate of officers_ Discussion ensued with Bob Hobbs and Claire -Marie Hart on
the slate for Chair and Vice -Chair or Co- Chairs as determined at October 4, 2016 meeting_
Next Meeting will be Tuesday October 4, 2016 2.30 pm
