Meeting of April 25, 2016

Members Present: Jim Latter, Estelle Rand, Paul Manzo, Lorinda Visnick, Medley Long, Karen Fogarty,
Bryant Ayles, Kathy Griffin, Jean Sherburne
Jim Latter, Chair, called the meeting to order at 6 :00 PM_
Jean Sherburne presented the School Forecast for FY 17 to FY 20_ She explained that the wage increases
were projected at 1.5 %_ She explained that the step and column increases were per the collective
bargaining agreement_ She also explained that the forecast included some additional positions related to
the new Middle School in FY 19 and discussed areas as custodial staff, guidance, foreign language etc_
She walked the committee through the other major assumptions for benefits, transportation, SPED tuitions
and technology_
There was discussion that for several years the school forecast is about $1 million more each year than the
prior mayor and current mayor could actually fund_ There was discussion as to whether there were ways
to resolve gaps if they were not going to be funded, unless there were significant policy changes, i_e_ not
funding something else such as roads and sidewalks, etc_
Lorinda Visnick and Jean said that they would talk to the superintendent regarding the forecast and as to
whether it could be refined and yet meet school operating requirements_ Bryant indicated that he would
be available to talk to the superintendent_
It was decided to schedule the next meeting for May 16, 2016 at 6 =00PM_
The committee meeting adjourned at 7.20 PM_
