2003-03-10BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING MARCH 10, 2003 PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Danforth, Duval, Lydon, Mahoney, Nelson, Simpson, Trask, and White ABSENT: None PUBLIC: Gary Kerr, Ken Robinson, Craig Schuster, Dave Graham, Rich Little, Courtney Little, and Ken Lewis A. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman White called the meeting to order at 7:00PM. 1. Presentations: · Edwards & Kelcey Update – An update was given to the Commission on the Environmental Assessment Project for RSA’s and the CIP 5- year projects. 2. Reading of the Minutes for February 2003 – Chairman White called for a reading of the minutes from the February meeting. A motion was made and seconded to accept the minutes. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Reading of the Financial Report – Chairman White gave the financial report for February 2003. A motion was made and seconded to accept the financial report subject to audit. Motion passed unanimously. B. OLD BUSINESS: Sub-Committee Reports · Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee – Commissioner Mahoney reported that airport industrial parcels should be selective regarding development e.g. corporate development versus construction company storage. He also updated the Commission on the relationship between Rich Little of Aviators of New England and Mike Reddin of Network Innovations and the status of the proposed sublease. · Public Relations Subcommittee – Commissioner Simpson updated the Commission on the status of the industrial parcel marketing sheets and on the progress towards a BVY precision instrument approach system. There was also a discussion on public relations efforts before the construction of CIP projects begin as well as a discussion on the need to revamp roadway airport signs. 1 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING MARCH 10, 2003 · Facilities and Maintenance Subcommittee – Commissioner Danforth and Commissioner Lydon reported on the facility inspections conducted earlier in the day, airport security, and clearing vegetation from fence lanes. C. NEW BUSINESS: None D. AIRPORT MANAGER’S REPORT – Airport Manager Mezzetti updated the Commission on the traffic count, Gurnard site, tax status change request for Wenham land, M.A.C. Airport Security Project grant status, snow removal, an aircraft incident, and cellular tower interest. E. COMMISSION/CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: · Chairman White read a letter addressed to the airport from a Beverly resident. The letter praised the airport’s handling of the suspicious person(s) who had expressed interest in a Beverly based crop duster type aircraft. · Commissioner Trask mentioned an inquiry from Danvers Town Councilman Sparkas asking if recent truck traffic on/around Burley Street area was airport related. (It was not.) F. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn made by Commissioner Lydon, seconded by Commissioner Barnico. Motion passed unanimously. 2
