Meeting Minutes

Meeting Called to Order: 2:35 pm by Bob Hobbs, Vice Chairperson
Secretary's Report March meeting minutes were accepted as written.
Director's Report
Welcome to our new Activities, Director Patricia Rice who was introduced at the Board Meeting
today.
We are sad to say that Devyn will be leaving us in May.
Hope to fill that empty spot with another Merrimack Community Engagement Fellow.
Reminder that our next Board Meeting will take place after our budget meeting at noon on
May 3rd
Building
Plumbing issues were revisited and the cost to replace the toilets is at a cost of $ 7,000.00 dollars
for the auto flush units.
The Building is twenty -five years old next year. Needs assessment of the building will be
completed by Gale Associates. Three different bids all under $10,000.00 were submitted to
Mary Ann. Mike Collins will decide on which proposal is chosen. We will be updated.
Administration and Finance
The new advertising module that is available on "My Senior Center" was discussed.
Since the advertisers are National rather than local more discussion is needed. This has been
tabled until further notice.
Mary Ann discussed the YTD Budget report in length. There are three more months left and so
far we are right on target. We have spent 71.6% of the year's budget to date.
Elder's Affairs Grant of $65,234.27, and at this time $37,028.85 will need to be spent down
before the end of the year. We will be updated.
There was a brief discussion on Senior Day in the Park.
Programs and Events
April is Older Americans month.
We have space for forty attendees for the "Live your Life well" Class to be held in Suites A & B
from nine to two.
Invitations went out to senior volunteers for the April 26 Volunteer Luncheon.
Committee Reports
Awards Committee
The newly designed nomination form for the" Senior of the Year "were distributed to the board.
The committee will meet today after the Board Meeting.
By- Laws Committee — no meeting
Scholarship Committee:
Met today before the Board Meeting they approved three trips and approved
some funds for one fridge.
Meetings /Activities/ Clients
The High Risk Task Force continues to meet and is working towards a way of sharing
information regarding mutual clients. Senior care is seeking a Tufts grant to hire a facilitator for
the group. Senior Care is planning to hire a Coordinator to work with the Task Force.
Focus Group is planned more information to follow.
Discussion on Senior's driving, and safety. The hard decisions when families may need to
intercede for safety of that senior and other drivers that maybe placed in jeopardy. Dan Collier
from Greater Lynn Services will be doing a "driving discernment" assessment with key stake
holders in Beverly.
Mary Ann let the board know of an incident of Senior Bullying" that took place at
the Center.
Personnel Updates
Vacancy for a part -time custodian- interviews are underway still an open position.
New Business
Next Meeting will be Tuesday May 3, 2016 Noon to 2 pm
