Specifically, I request that parking restrictions to be implemented in the following locations: • Hull Street: All day parking restriction on the north side of Hull Street beginning at Ash Street heading west and ending at the location of the pedestrian crosswalk located in front of Cahill Park. • Hull Street: All day parking restriction on the south side of Hull Street beginning at the access drive of Centerville school, heading east and ending at the intersection of Desmond Road. • Ash Street: Introduce parking restrictions during school hours along the west side of Ash Street. This request has been submitted to ensure public safety for both pedestrians and traffic during the drop -off and pick -up schedule at the Centerville Elementary school. Currently vehicles park on the sidewalk during these two periods and encroach into the road dangerously reducing site lines for traffic and prevent safe traffic operations through the Hull Street corridor. Communications from other City Officers and Boards: #495 Communication — Parking and Traffic Commission November 18, 2015 The Honorable City Council City Hall, 191 Cabot Street Beverly, MA 01915 RE: REQUEST AND RECOMMENDATION TO INSTALL TRAFFIC SIGN AT RESERVOIR ROAD AND SOHIER ROAD. Dear Honorable Council: The Parking and Traffic Commission respectfully submits a request and recommendation to the Beverly City Council approve, and adopt by ordinance, the installation of a MUTCD compliant STOP sign and STOP line at Reservoir Road at its intersection with Sohier Road. During the meeting held Tuesday, October 6` 2015 the commission reviewed a request by the Northshore Educational Consortium, to review traffic safety during the beginning of the school day and when students are dismissed. The Commission conducted a site visit and determined that a school zone is not warranted, however a stop sign is missing at the intersection of Reservoir Road and Sohier Road. The intersection does not currently have any traffic control device raising safety concerns for vehicles passing through the intersection. Although a stop sign has been in place at this intersection in recent past it is not currently included as a location for stop control in the Streets Ordinance. Following discussion and deliberation, members of the Commission voted 6 -0 to submit a request and recommendation to the Beverly City Council to approve, and adopt by ordinance, the installation of a MUTCD STOP sign and STOP line at Reservoir Road at its intersection with Sohier Road. Respectfully, Richard Benevento Chairman R B/a c cc: Ward 3 Councilor James Latter Michael Collins, DPS Commissioner Greg St. Louis, City Engineer Parking & Traffic Commission members file Referred to Legal Affairs. 43 Communications, Applications & Petitions #496 Communication — Allen & Major Associates, Inc. re: DER — North Shore Crossing Project Received and Placed on File.
