Lewis LICENSE BOARD MINUTES — AUGUST 14, 2014 The meeting of the Beverly License Board was called to order on Thursday, August 14, 2014 in the City Council Chambers at 6:30 pm. In attendance at the meeting were: Board Members Richard Kelley, John Roccio, Police Liaison Sgt. William Page and Clerk, Martha Lewis. Absent: Board Member Joseph Trainor 1. Application for Transfer of Stock, New Stockholder, New Officer, Change of Officer and Change of Manager — Huong Viet, Inc. dba Green Papaya, 214 Cabot Street, Hung Vo, Manager Jack Altshuler, Esq. introduced himself as well as the applicant, Hung Vo. Attorney Altshuler introduced Mr. Hung Vo, also known as John. He explained that Mr. Vo is an experienced businessman from Quincy. He has owned a successful nail salon and computer business. Chairman Kelley asked about Mr. Vo's experience in the restaurant business. Atty. Altshuler stated that although Mr. Vo did not have experience running a restaurant, he has been working at Green Papaya for the past three weeks learning all aspects of the business. Mr. Vo enjoys the work. He wants to become a partner in the business by purchasing Nancy Doan's 50% of the stock. Atty. Altshuler further explained that Mr. Vo knows how to promote business, he has sound organizational skills. He expects to work 72 hours per week to make the restaurant a success. Mr. Tam Doan who is the current owner could not attend tonight's meeting as he is the chef and was at the restaurant. Chairman Kelley asked if Mr. Vo was still in the nail salon business. Atty. Altshuler stated the Mr. Vo had sold that business and will focus on the restaurant. Chairman Kelley asked if Mr. Vo had been trained in serving liquor. According to Atty. Altshuler, Mr. Vo fully intends to be trained as a bartender as well as become TIPS certified. Minutes of License Board Meeting held August 14, 2014 Chairman Kelley reviewed the application and asked Atty. Altshuler to explain the terms of the agreement. He recalled that the Green Papaya has pledged the license to the landlord. Atty. Altshuler explained that Tam and Nancy Doan had paid off the mortgage to the Goldberg Properties. A copy of this was included in the package. Chairman Kelley asked there were any comments for or against the application. No comments from the public. He asked Mr. Roccio and Sgt. Page if they had any questions or comments. Hearing no further questions or comments, Mr. Roccio made a motion to approve the application from Huong Viet, Inc. dba Green Papaya for the transfer of stock, new stockholder and new officer, change of officer and change of manager to Hung Vo. Chairman Kelley seconded the motion. Motion passed 2 — 0. 1. Correspondence from Windover Development regarding the license held by 146 Rantoul Street, LLC was received and placed on file. 2. Applications f6r One -Day Special Licenses A total of 15 applications were received. Nine from the Carriage House @ Lynch Park, five from Endicott College and one from the Jubilee Yacht Club. All applications were reviewed and within the four hour time limit. Mr. Roccio made a motion to approve the 15 requests for special one -day licenses. Chairman Kelley seconded. Motion approved 2 — 0. Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2014 at 6:30 pm in City Council Chambers, Third Floor, City Hall, 191 Cabot Street. Hearing no further business, Mr. Roccio made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Chairman Kelley seconded the motion. Meeting adjourned at 7:20 pm.
