I(elley, Esq., Chairman George Heller John Roccio LICENSE BOARD MINUTES — March 10, 2011 The meeting of the Beverly License Board was called to order on Thursday, March 10, 2011 in the Council Chambers at 6:30 pm. In attendance at the meeting were: Board Members Chairman Richard Kelley, George Heller and Clerk, Martha Lewis. Also in attendance: Sgt. William Page of the Beverly Police Department. Absent: John Roccio Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Chairman Kelley 1. Essex County Liquors, Inc. Notification from the ABCC received concerning indefinite suspension of license at Essex County Liquors, Inc. dba Alexander's. The license was turned into the Board by Sgt. Page. The Board placed the letter of file pending further action by the ABCC. (subsequent to meeting, the ABCC contacted the Clerk concerning the suspension. The investigator from the ABCC advised the Clerk that the license was suspended due to problem with a past tax payment with the prior owner and the local licensing board could resubmit transfer of license application for reconsideration. The clerk has sent in Form 43 and the transmittal form for reconsideration to the ABCC. The ABCC will then schedule a hearing with licensee.) 2. One- Day Special Licenses Eight Applications were received and reviewed. All applications were complete and all events were scheduled for no more than 4 hours. Mr. Kelley made a motion to approve the applications. Mr. Heller seconded the motion. The applications were .approved 2 — 0. Other Business City Solicitor Roy Gelineau has reviewed a prior request from the Police Chief Mark Ray appointing two officers — Lt. Michael Devlin and Sgt. William Page as agents of the License Board. Following a discussion with Chief Ray and a review of Sgt. Page's letter dated January 29, 2011, Atty. Gelineau has endorsed the request action. A discussion of the background leading up to the request took place. Mr. Heller asked if the request extended to all officers or just the two named — Sgt. Page and Lt. Devlin. Sgt. Page stated that any infractions will be reported by the Agents to the Board. Mr. Heller made a motion to appoint Sgt. William Page and Lt. Michael Devlin as agents to the License Board. The request was seconded by Mr. Kelley. Motion was passed 2 — 0. Having no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:00 pm. Next meeting: Thursday, April 7, 2011 in the Council Chambers.
