2015-02-241City of Beverly, Massachusetts Public Meeting Minutes Board: Library Trustees Subcommittee: Date: Tuesday, February 24, 2015 6:30 P.M. Place: Beverly Public Library Board members present: Margaret Altman, Mary Behrle, Kevin O'Reilly, and Myron Schirer- Suter Board members absent: Marshall Handly, Anthony Kline, Neil Olson, and Joanne Panunzio, Others present: Patricia Cirone, Anna Langstaff, Bruce Doig Recorder: Anna Langstaff Draft minutes, no quorum present. Kevin O'Reilly presided. Minutes of the previous meeting could not be approved due to lack of a quorum. Public Presentation None Committee Reports Personnel: No report. Administration: No report. Finance: No report. Long Range Planning: No report. Report of the Library Director 1) FY2015 Budget: Patricia Cirone reviewed FY2015 budget. Overall the budget looks good with the exception of the van maintenance and inspection line items. There is some concern regarding the costs of the snow storms. 2) FY2016 Budget: Patricia Cirone has not received any guidelines from the Mayor regarding the FY2016 budget. 3) Building: Punch list items have been completed for the 3 d floor. Stone installation along the side of the front stairs will be completed in the spring. 4) Winter Street Entrance: There have been a lot of problems keeping the Winter Street entrance clear and safe. 5) Personnel: Linda Caravaggio will be having surgery. The library will have to suspend bookmobile service for approximately two months. 6) Security: Walk - throughs have not started yet. 7) NOBLE: If Montserrat and Salem State University go through with the proposed merger, it may have an impact on NOBLE assessment fees for all the libraries in NOBLE. 8) Trustees: Patricia Cirone is waiting to hear back from the Mayor regarding a trustee replacement for Georgia Bills. 9) Self- Checkout: The library plans to implement self - checkout in the near future. 10) Beverly Newspapers: Patricia Cirone plans to start digitizing Beverly newspapers beginning with the WWI era. 11) 3D Printer: Patricia Cirone continues to do more 3D printer training sessions. Montserrat College of Art has expressed an interest in collaborating with the library to create an internship in 3D printing for a Montserrat student. 12) Programs: Readers Advisory workshop for staff, BAD Art Night; Opera Appreciation Class; story hours and afterschool programs; pizza and a movie for teens. Communications None Unfinished Business 1) Cafe: Patricia Cirone needs to get more specifics from Mike Collins and the cafe design company before moving forward with an rfp. New Business 1) Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon: The library is planning a volunteer appreciation luncheon on April 22. 2) Contracts: Library Director and Assistant Library Director contracts will expire June 30, 2015. Bruce Doig will contact Mayor Cahill to see if he wants to be involved in the process. The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at 6:30 PM at the Main Library. There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 PM.
