1701-03-21 (2)[Selectmen's Meeting March 21, 1701] At a meeting of the Selectmen the 21st day of March 1700/01, reckoned with Constable John Tuck for all rates committed to him, relating to the country, county and town, and he the said Constable John Tuck hath fully paid and discharged all the Province rates, and the County and town rates committed to him in the time of his Constableship, and also of the quarter rate for Mr. Hale made in the year above said, he to produce a receipt of Dr. Robert Hale, of the full payment to him of the money due to the Rev. Mr. John Hale, for the quarter rate above said; the rate made for the Rev. Mr. Thomas Blowers is not yet reckoned for nor intended in this record. At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 21st day of March, 1700/01, reckoned with Constable William Clark, for all rates committed to him, the said William Clark, during the time of his Constableship, and he hath fully paid and discharged the Province rates, and the county rate, and town rate, and he is hereby discharged of said rates, but it yet remains that he bring a receipt for the payment of Mr. Hale's quarter rate, and for the payment of Mr. Blowers' quarter rate. At the same town meeting of the Selectmen on the 21S of March, 1700/01, then reckoned with Samuel Balch for seventy five days service for the town at the Great and General Court or assembly in the year 1700, and for one year's clerkship in this town, and the town remains in the said Samuel Balch's debt, the sum of eight pounds and eight shillings money, on the account above said. At the same meeting Capt. John Dodge was paid ten shillings by Constable William Clark, for money disbursed by the said Dodge at Boston, in the concern between Wenham and our town. At a meeting of the selectmen on the 20th day of March 1703/4 Mr. Peter Woodbury junr. brought an account of five feet and a half of wood, which he, the said Woodbury, hauled for the watch, and was allowed three shillings and six pence for the same and the town remains the three shillings and six pence in the said Woodbury's debt. At a meeting of the selectmen on the 21st day of March 1700/1701 Joseph Herrick, Town Treasurer sent an account of money by him received and by him paid of the town's rate made May 20, 1700 viz. To more paid by Joseph Herrick for the selectmen's expenses when sent for to Salem by the [illegible] Court of Order Sessions about the highway by Richard Thissell's, four shillings so that the town's now in debt unto the said Joseph Herrick, Town Treasurer £O1: 09:06. At a meeting of the selectmen March the 21st 1700/1701, reckoned with Mr. Robert Briscoe for the selectmen's expenses and for committee's expenses and for paper bought of him for the town's use and for payment of Nathaniel Hayward, for mending the steps of the meetinghouse and seats in the meetinghouse and there is due to the said Robert Briscoe from the town the sum of five shillings and ten pence.
