1700-04-16 (2)This indenture or agreement made the 16th day of April 1700 witnesseth as followeth, I, John Hill of the town of Beverly, cooper, do by these presents covenant with the selectmen of the town of Beverly, to take, keep and maintain Joshua Turland, one of poor of said town and to find him all necessaries for such a person for a term of one whole year from the date hereof, and consideration whereof, we the selectmen of Beverly, do promise in behalf of our town that he, the said Hill, shall be paid the sum of seven pounds, and ten shillings in money and one coat, one hat and one pair of shoes for the use of said Turland.
