1706-02-19[Selectmen's Meeting February 19, 1706]
At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 19 of February, 1705/6, was an order drawn unto John Ober,
Constable of Beverly, to abate John Cleaves ten shillings out of the Province rate now in said Ober's
hands.
At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 19 of February 1705/6, was in order drawn upon Andrew
Dodge, Constable of Beverly, to abate Edward Trask five shillings out of the Province rate in said Dodge
his hands.
At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 19th 1705/6, was an order drawn upon John Ober, Constable of
Beverly, to pay unto Benjamin Parnell twenty shillings, out of the town rate now in his hands.
At the same meeting was an order drawn upon Andrew Dodge to pay unto John Herrick eight shillings
out of the town rate in his hands.
At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 19"' of February, 1705/6, the several following orders were drawn
upon the constables, viz.: an order to John Ober to pay unto Robert Woodbury one and forty shillings and
six pence out of the town rate in said Ober's hands, forty shillings of the said sum being due to said
Woodbury for his services as Town Clerk in the year 1705, and eighteen pence being due to said
Woodbury for so much dispersed by him for the new town books; an order to John Ober to pay unto Capt.
Thomas West six shillings and four pence, out of the town rate in said Ober's hands, for so much paid by
said West towards Mr. Blowers' pew in the meetinghouse; an order to John Ober to pay unto Deacon John
Hill six shillings and four pence, out of the town rate in said Ober his hands, for so much paid by said Hill
towards Mrs. Blower's pew, and order to John Ober to pay unto Benjamin Ellingwood six shillings and
four pence, out of the town rate in said Ober's hands, for so much paid by said Ellingwood towards Mrs.
Blowers' pew, an order to Constable Andrew Dodge to pay unto Capt. Joseph Herrick five shillings, out
of the town rate in said Dodge, his hands, for so much paid by said Herrick unto Nathaniel Walding being
for work at the meetinghouse; an order to Constable Andrew Dodge to pay unto Cornet Lot Conant six
shillings and four pence, out of the town rate in said Dodge, his hands, for so much paid by said Conant
towards Mrs. Blowers' pew.
At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 19th day of February 1705/6, John Lovett, Constable for the year
1704, brought the following receipt viz.: Beverly February 19, 1705/6. Received of John Lovett junr.,
Constable of Beverly for the year 1704, five pounds and fifteen shillings in money, according to the order
which I had of the Selectmen to him for so much money, to be paid to me by said Lovett out of the town
rate in his hands, said order bearing date December 15th, 1704. I say received in full. By me John Hill
At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 19 of February 1705/6, then Joseph Morgan senr. brought an
accept of six shillings due to him from the town, for entertaining John Rogers when working on the
meetinghouse glass; and was at the same time paid said sum by the Selectmen, out of money received
from John Lovett on account of his Constableship.
At a meeting of the Selectmen on thel9th of February 1705/6, Jonathan Rayment brought the following
receipt viz. received of Mr. Jonathan Rayment, Constable of Beverly, the sum of five pounds which is in
full of what he was ordered by the Selectmen of the said town to pay for the County of Essex. I say
received by me John Appleton, County Treasurer. Ipswich April 25, 1704.
August the 20th 1703. Received of Mr. Jonathan Rayment, Constable, in full the sum of thirty shillings
which is the remainder of the seven pounds and ten shillings. I say received by me Daniel Dodge.
