1706-01-28 (2)[Selectmen's Meeting January 28, 1706] At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 28th January, 1705/6, was an order drawn upon Andrew Dodge, to pay unto Mrs. Mary Elliott, twelve shillings and six pence, out of the town rate in said Dodge, his hands, said twelve shillings six pence being due for the school house. At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 28th of January, 1705/6, was an order drawn upon Andrew Dodge, to pay unto William Elliott, fourteen shillings in money, out of the town rate in said Dodge's hands, said money being part of what money is due to said Elliott for the school house for the year 1705. At a meeting of the Selectmen January the 28th, 1705/6, Constable Jonathan Rayment brought the following receipt, viz.: January the 25th, 1705/6. Received of Jonathan Rayment his part of the rate for the ministry in the year 1703. In full by me, Thomas Blowers. Beverly January 25, 1705/6. Received of Jonathan Rayment, Constable, for the year 1703, with what I had before received, the full forty and three pounds, which sum of forty three pounds, being in full of said Constable Jonathan Rayment his part of my salary, for the year 1703. I say received by me. Thomas Blowers. This agreement made this twenty eighth day of January in the year of our Lord 1705/6, between the Selectmen of Beverly and Simon Lovett of the said town of Beverly, witnesseth, that, I, the said Simon Lovett, do by these presents promise and engage to perform and attend the office of a Sexton in all respects in our said town of Beverly for one whole year from the fifth day of November 1705 to the fifth day of November 1706, and we the said Selectmen of Beverly do promise in behalf of our said town, that the said Simon Lovett shall for his said services be paid the sum of five pounds in money by said town of Beverly.
