1704-07-14[Selectmen's Meeting July 14, 1704] At a meeting of the Selectmen of Beverly, July 14, 1704, were two lists made for the paying of our grammar school master Mr. James Hale, for keeping said school according to an agreement made August the 11th, 1703, for one year, said lists being for the paying of the last half year, were committed to Henry Herrick and John Lovett junr., Constables of Beverly to collect, Constable Henry Herrick's list amounting to £8:18:11, he to pay into Mr. James Hale £7:05:06, and the overplus they are to pay into the town Treasurer or Selectmen, for the use of the town of Beverly; the warrant committed with the aforesaid lists to each Constable, requiring them to make up their accepts by the first Monday in September next.
