1704-05-19This indenture made this 19th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and four, witnesseth, that I, William Woodbury senr., of the town of Beverly in the County of Essex in New England, mariner, do by these persons covenant and promise to and with the Selectmen of the town of Beverly to take, keep and maintain Joshua Turland, one of the poor of said town, and to find him meat, drink, washing, lodging and apparel suitable for such a person for the term of one full year from the day of the date hereof for and in consideration, whereof the Selectmen of the town of Beverly do promise in behalf of our town that the said William Woodbury shall be paid the sum of eleven pounds. Five pounds and ten shillings of said sum to be paid in provisions at current money price and the other five pounds and ten shillings to be paid in money, the provisions part to be paid by first of January next ensuing the date hereof and the money part by the 19 of May 1705.
