1704-03-06[Selectmen's Meeting March 6, 1704] At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 6th day of March 1703/4, Mr. Samuel Herrick, Constable of Bass River Ward for the year 1702, the said Herrick gave the following receipt, viz.: received of Samuel Herrick, March 6, 1703/4, the full sum of sixty one pounds and ten shillings, being the whole of the part of my rate he was to pay in to me made in the year 1703, for my salary and settlement. I say received by me Thomas Blowers At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 6th day of March, 1703/4, Caleb Wallis Constable of Mackerel Cove Ward for the year 1702, the said Wallis gave the receipt as followeth, viz: March 6th, 1703/4, the full sum of sixty eight pounds, ten shillings, being the whole of that part of my rate he was to pay to me, made in the year 1702 for my salary and settlement. I say received by me Thomas Blowers At a meeting of the Selectmen on the sixth day of March, 1703/4, then reckoned with Samuel Herrick who was Constable for the year 1702, and he, the said Samuel Herrick, hath cleared and paid for all rates committed to him during the time of his Constableship, viz: four country rates, minister's rates and town rates, and is fully discharged. At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 6th of March 1703/4 then reckoned with Caleb Wallis who was Constable for the year 1702, and he the said Caleb Wallis hath cleared and paid, for all rates committed to him during the time of his Constableship, viz: for country rates, for Mr. Blowers' rate and town rates, and is fully discharged for all rates in said year, and there remains due to the said Wallis from the town eighteen shillings; at the same time received to the above said eighteen shillings of Mr. Robert Hale, which was due to the town from the said Mr. Hale, and said Wallis is satisfied and all cleared between the town and said Wallis. At a meeting of the Selectmen on the sixth day of March 1703/4 John Lovett senr., gave an account of today's work eight taking a list of estates when Assessor which is five shillings, and two days expended with a commissioner in proportioning estates, three shillings, then reckoned with John Lovett senr., and due to the said Lovett, eight shillings and at the same time was an order drawn upon Constable Samuel Corning to pay unto John Lovett senr., four shillings out of the town rate and there still remains due unto said Lovett, four shillings. March the 6th day 1703/4. Entered a receipt which Constable Jonathan Rayment brought as followeth viz. Received of Mr. Jonathan Rayment June 26, 1703 the sum of six pounds which is due of the seven pounds and ten shillings that the said Rayment is forthwith to collect and pay in for the school salary. Received per me Daniel Dodge At the same time Constable Jonathan Rayment gave the following receipt viz. August the 20th, 1703. Received of Mr. Jonathan Rayment in full sum of thirty shillings which is the remainder of the seven pounds and ten shillings. I say received by me Constable Daniel Dodge At the same time Daniel Herrick paid unto Mr. John King of Salem forty shillings toward the keeping of his mother Hoare and the said Samuel Herrick was allowed the same out of the town rate committed to him 1702. March 6th day 1703/4. Entered a receipt which Constable Jonathan Rayment brought as followeth viz. Boston November 2d 1703. Received of Mr. Jonathan Rayment, Constable of Beverly thirteen pounds four shillings in part of his first list committed to him, received for Mr. James Taylor, Treasurer per Jer. Allen At the same time March 6th day 1703/4 and today receipt which Constable him Jonathan Rayment brought as followeth viz. December 3d, 1703, received of Mr. Jonathan Rayment, Constable of Beverly, twenty four pounds eighteen shillings and three pence in part received for Mr. James Taylor, Treasurer. per Jer. Allen
