1704-02-14[Selectmen's Meeting February 14, 1704] At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 14th day of February 1703/4, Mr. Lot Conant, Constable of Bass River ward for the year 1701, brought the receipt as follow with, viz.: received of Lot Conant said February 14, 1703/4, the full sum of sixty four pounds and fifteen shillings, being for that part of my salary and settlement, that he was to collect in the year 1701. I say received by me Thomas Blowers At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 14th day of February 1703/4 Mrs. Mary Woodbury senr. brought an account of a cord of wood, which she cause to be hauled to the watch house, it was allowed for the same six shillings, and at the same time was a bill drawn upon Constable Corning to pay the same. At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 14 of February 1703/4 Samuel Butman brought an account of his making a coffin for Joshua Turland, and was allowed three shillings for the same and at the same time was in order drawn upon Constable Jonathan Rayment to pay the same. At the same meeting of the 14th of February 1703/4 Mr. Isaac Woodbury gave an account of money due to him for serving as a Representative at the same time was an order drawn upon Constable Jonathan Rayment to pay Mr. Isaac Woodbury three pounds and also at the same time was in order drawn upon Constable Samuel Corning to pay Mr. Isaac Woodbury three pounds out of the town rate. At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 14 of February 1703/4 was an order drawn upon Constable Jonathan Rayment to pay unto John King, of Salem six pounds, out of the town rate for helping his mother -in -law Dorcas Hoare. At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 14 of February Cornelius Baker gave an account of some work for the watch house and the stocks and was allowed for the same five shillings and six pence and at the same time was an order drawn upon Constable Samuel Corning for the payment of the same. At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 14 of February John Trask gave an account of four shillings which he paid to Deacon John Hill for keeping Joshua Turland and at the same time was in order drawn upon Constable Samuel Corning for the payment of same. At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 14 of February 1703/4 Mr. Thomas Woodbury made return unto the selectmen that according to their request he the said Woodbury hath bargained with Mr. Isaac Woodbury for a house to teach school in and that he, said Isaac Woodbury shall have after the rate of thirty shillings a year for so long time as school shall be taught. The said school beginning on the first day of this instant February at the said house above said. At the same meeting of the Selectmen on the 14 of February 1703/4 was an order drawn upon Constable Samuel Corning, for to pay unto Mr. Robert Briscoe fifty shillings and at the same time was in order drawn upon Constable Jonathan Rayment to pay the aforesaid Mr. Robert Briscoe ten shillings, the Selectmen knowing the town to be in said Briscoe's debt.
