1703-02-22[Selectmen's Meeting February 22, 1703] At a meeting of the Selectmen the 22nd day of February 1702/3, Mary Hebert, the widow of Samuel Hebert, late of Beverly deceased, gave account to the Selectmen of her attending as a nurse for John Swanton, in the time of his sickness of the smallpox, and for house room, for trouble and disadvantage to her about the occasion, and the Selectmen taking it into consideration, did allow her eight and twenty shillings, and at the same time was a bill drawn upon Caleb Wallis, Constable, for the payment of same. At the same meeting of the Selectmen, Mr. Isaac Woodbury brought an account of nails that the town had of him, for to repair the watch house upon Mrs. Woodbury's point, and for paper and nails that the town had of him in the year 1697, the whole sum being six shillings, four pence at the same time was a bill drawn upon Caleb Wallis, Constable, for the payment of the same. At the same meeting of the Selectmen, Joseph Pride came and received for Goodman Grover's house rent, who was removed upon the account of John Swanton, and he was allowed three shillings, and at the same time was a bill drawn upon Caleb Wallis for the payment of the same.
