1702-02-27[Selectmen's Meeting February 27, 1702] At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 27th day of February 1701/2, Joseph Morgan junr. Brought an account of digging Goodwife Drinker's grave, & for mending of the lock of the door of our meeting house, & there is due to said Morgan from the town for the same, six shillings. At the same meeting of the Selectmen, Constable Benjamin Ellingwood brought the following receipt. Boston, December the 23rd, 1701. Received of Mr. Benjamin Ellingwood, Constable of Beverly, thirty four pounds & twelve shillings, in full of a warrant for the like sum. Received for Mr. James Taylor, Treasurer Jer. Allen At the same meeting of the Selectmen paid to Samuel Lovett, by Benjamin Ellingwood, Constable, the sum of two pounds and eighteen shillings, due to said Lovett for being sexton in the year 1700; paid at the same time to Deacon John Hill by said Ellingwood, the sum of seven pounds due to said Hll from the town, for keeping Joshua Turland in the year 1700; more paid to Jacob Griggs, Treasurer, by said Ellingwood two pounds & ten shillings, the whole sum the said Ellingwood hath paid of the town rate committed to him is £16:10:00. At the same meeting of the Selectmen, Mr. Thomas Woodbury gave an account to the Selectmen, of money expended upon Goodwife Drinker's burial & there is due to him from the town, one pound, thirteen shillings & two pence, at the same time was an order charged upon Constable Benjamin Ellingwood for the payment of the same. At the same meeting of the Selectmen the 27 of February, 1701/2, reckoned with Mr. Robert Briscoe, for the Selectmen's charges, for this present year 1701/2, and there is due to the said Briscoe from town two pounds, eighteen shillings & four pence, & at the same time was an order charged upon Constable Benjamin Ellingwood for the payment of the same together with five shillings, ten pence due to said Briscoe for the year 1700. At the same meeting of the Selectmen the 27 of February, 1701/2, paid to Cornet Joseph Herrick by Constable Lot Conant fourteen shillings.
