1697-03-29We, whose names are underwritten being chosen a committee by each of our towns viz. Beverly and Manchester, to lay out a county highway in said town of Beverly towards Manchester, in such a place or places where by reason of a breach or eruption at the beach between Mr. Benjamin Woodbury's and Mr. Thomas West's, such a county road or highway is needful and wanting, we do agree and for a final issue and conclusion about the aforesaid matter as determined that the county road or highway from Mr. Thomas West's aforesaid, towards Beverly shall begin at the west end of said West's causeway, where the way was formally laid out, and so from thence by a three rail fence, on the right -hand, and so near, till you come to the next hill in said West's field, and from thence between said West's old fence, and his middle field to a valley leading down to his meadow almost at they head of the pond, and so over said meadow to the said West's land on the northwest side of said meadow and from thence over the hill on said West's land till you come to the common on the north of Cornelius Larcom's land and from thence over said common land, southwesterly till you come to said Benjamin Woodbury's most southerly bars, that let out into the common land aforementioned, and from said bars into the said Woodbury's east pasture land southwesterly till you come to the old highway at a white pine tree marked on two sides, said pine tree standing on the south side of said way in witness whereof and for the full can confirmation of all and singular the premises abovesaid, and we, the said committee, have hereunto interchangeably set our hands this 29th day of March 1697.
