1695-06-20We, whose names are underwritten, being chosen and appointed by the selectmen of Beverly to meet with some gentlemen of Wenham as should be sent by Wenham, selectmen to perambulate on the line and renew the bounds between the town of Beverly and the town of Wenham, we accordingly attended the same and met with several gentlemen of Wenham at the place appointed on the 20th day of this instant June 1695, where after some debate we agreed to go to the bounds at Alford's Hill and mutually renewed the bound, it being a white oak tree from thence, we went unto the brook running out of the Great Pond at the easterly side of said pond, formerly a bound between the said towns, which we acknowledged to be our towns' bound, also until it come to Longham Brook and so taking that brook to the northward of Longham Bridge at Richard Dodge's the two last bounds, the Wenham men refused to join with us, from whence we went on the north side of Longham Meadow, to a place where was a bound stake as they said, but found none, but an old limb which they set up at that time which we did not understand, they then refused to go with us any further. We went and renewed the white oak at east end of Pleasant Pond called Manchester bounds also. As witness William Dodge senr. Samuel Corning senr.
