MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING
JUNE 17, 2003
PRESENT: Commissioners Barnico, Danforth, Lydon, Simpson, Trask, and White
ABSENT: Commissioners Duval, Mahoney, and Nelson
PUBLIC: Ken Lewis, Phil Posner, Linda McCarthy, Heather Bohm-Hilman, Gerry
Nelson, Dave Graham, Rich and Courtney Little, Ken Robinson, Deborah
and Lorraine Lasith, Rich Mello, Marc Fortier, and Wil Gourdeau
A. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman White called the meeting to order at 7:00PM.
1. Presentations:

Edwards & Kelcey Update – Dave Graham discussed off-airport
obstructions (trees) and the need to patch the larger cracks on Runway
9/27.
·
Phil Posner, Attorney – Expressed his concerns for his client (Linda
McCarthy, proprietor of Something Different Café) relating to the
City’s repossession of the Barracks Building.
2. Reading of the Minutes for May 2003 – Chairman White called for a reading of
the minutes from the May meeting. Commissioner Lydon made a motion to accept
the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Trask. Motion passed unanimously.
3. Reading of the Financial Report – Chairman White gave the financial report for
May 2003. Commissioner Lydon made a motion to accept the financial report
subject to audit, seconded by Commissioner Trask. Motion passed unanimously.
B. OLD BUSINESS:

Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee –
1. Capozzi Vs. Commonwealth – See attached disposition
2. Capozzi Vs. Beverly Airport Commission, City of Beverly, and
Mayor Crean – Dismissed
3. Cailin Road Meeting – Commissioner Barnico will provide
details on 7/14/03

4. Mass Development – Meeting with B.A.C. Subcommittee on
7/11/03 (to discuss the possibility of state aid with site
development and marketing of airport industrial parcels)

Public Relations Subcommittee – No report

Facilities and Maintenance Subcommittee – Commissioner Danforth
updated the Commission on the status of the M.A.C. funded Airport
Security Enhancements grant project.
C. NEW BUSINESS: None
D. AIRPORT MANAGER’S REPORT – Airport Manager Mezzetti updated the
Commission on the traffic count, recycling, RFP status, industrial parcel status,
Gurnard status, airport maintenance, Doozer status, landing fees, A.N.E. sign, and
bi-plane rides.
E. COMMISSION/CHAIRMAN’S REPORT: None
F. ADJOURNMENT:
Motion to adjourn made by Vice Chairman Barnico, seconded by Commissioner
Lydon. Motion passed unanimously.
