1710-08-12[Assessors' Meeting August 12, 17 10] At a meeting of the Assessors of Beverly on August 12th, 1710, were two lists of a Province rate or assessments made in observance of a warrant from the Treasurer and Receiver General of Her Majesty's Province of the Massachusetts Bay in New England, bearing date the third day of July 1710, were two hundred sixty one pounds, the said two lists being dated August 12th, 1710, and committed unto Matthew Butman and Joseph Balch, constables of Beverly to collect and pay in unto the said Treasurer, the above said sum, the list committed unto the said Matthew Butman amounting unto one hundred forty four pounds and eight pence, being instructed upon said list to pay in unto said Treasurer, the sum of one hundred thirty six pounds, four shillings and nine pence, and the overplus the eight pounds three shillings eleven pence, he is also required upon said list, to pay in unto said Town Treasurer, or the Selectmen, for the use of said town. And the list committed unto the said Joseph Balch, amounting to one hundred thirty one pounds and fifteen shillings and three pence, he being instructed upon said list to pay in unto the said Treasurer of the Province the sum of four hundred twenty four pounds, fifteen shillings and three pence and the overplus being seven pounds he is also required upon said list, to pay in unto said Town Treasurer, or the Selectmen for the use of said town, and either of said constables are to issue their accounts with the Selectmen for the time being, at, or before the last day of May next ensuing the date hereof, and for the said overplus.
