1705-08-27[Assessors' Meeting August 27, 1705] Essex. August 27, 1705, then Capt. Thomas West, Lieut. John Balch, Capt. Joseph Herrick and Cornet Lot Conant were sworn Assessors, for levying or assessing the present tax for this town of Beverly. me Robert Hale, Justice of the Peace. At a meeting of the Assessors of Beverly on the 27th of August, 1705 were two lists of a Province tax made, and committed to John Ober and Andrew Dodge, constables of Beverly, to collect and pay into the Province Treasurer, and each Constable to pay into the Province Treasurer one hundred thirty pounds, ten shillings, John Ober's list amounting to £134:02:08, and Andrew Dodge his list amounting to £132:08:00.
