2014-06-19Beverly Cable Advisory Commission Meeting held June 19, 2014 Members Present: Muriel Zaginailoff, Chair; D. Berman, Secretary; Eric Overberg; Al Torsey; Alex Ushakoff Alternate Members: Neil Overberg Members Absent: Neil Overberg Others Present: none Recorder: Donald Berman The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by Muriel. This meeting had been scheduled for a quarterly report from BevCam but no representatives appeared. The minutes of the previous meetings of April 17 and May 15 were approved. Muriel reported on bringing the up -to -date member list to Martha at City Hall to update the online listing for the Commission. Muriel also reported on an informal conversation with Diane Costa in which Diane expressed her hope to return to active participation, perhaps by autumn. Alex reported that he had not heard from Marshall Handley on his interest in joining the Commission. Muriel and Don then reported on the Tuesday meeting with the mayor and his staff, consisting of Kevin Harutunian, Chief of Staff, Bryant Ayles, Dir. Finance and Dennis Greenleaf, IT dept., to discuss the I -Net initiative. Alex also reported on a conversation with Dennis Greenleaf from the IT department. In summary, the city is progressing with implementation of an independent fiber -optic network that can accommodate video carriage for BevCam at Lynch Park and the Farms Library. Don reported on a possible development for receiving information from cable subscribers on a city site called CitiStat. CitiStat will be a grant supported data collection application to enable Beverly to increase customer service efficiency by collecting statistics on departmental responses to citizen requests. We would be working with Kevin Harutunian, chief of staff, as this project develops. Muriel wants to proceed with contacting other CRCs to learn how they handle subscriber comments and complaints about service. The next meeting was set for July 17 at 7:00 PM. Based on a suggestion by Alex and agreed to by members, Muriel will contact Paul Earl to invite BevCam to attend this next meeting as a make -up for tonight's missed quarterly meeting but retaining and continuing the regular BevCam quarterly meeting schedule (March, June, September, December). The meeting was adjourned at 8:05 PM.
