LICENSE BOARD MINUTES — JANUARY 9, 2014
The meeting of the Beverly License Board was called to order on Thursday, January 9, 2014 in
the side meeting room at 6 :30 pm.
In attendance at the meeting were: Board Members Richard Kelley, John Roccio, Joseph
Trainor, and Police Liaison Sgt. William Page. Absent was Clerk Martha Lewis.
Meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm by Chairman Kelley.
1.
Approval of the minutes --- Minutes of the meeting for December 12, 2013 were
reviewed. Mr. Roccio made a motion to accept the minutes as submitted. Mr. Trainor
seconded the motion. Motion passed 3 4.
2. One Day License — A total of four (4) applications were received. All applications were
reviewed. All applications were within the four -hour time limit. The applications for the
Rotary Club fundraiser at Eurostoves and fundraiser for AIDS Action at Beverly Athletic
Club were approved subject to additional action. A revised Application signed by a
Rotarian and specification of the license area for the Beverly Athletic Club. The
application for the Farms Pride Community Association was approved for March 15.
The fourth and final application was from Spectacle Management who is producing a
theatre show, Lenny Clarke at the Larcom Theatre located at 13 Wallis Street. Peter
Lally the applicant was in attendance. He was requesting a beer and wine license be
issued for January 25th. Mr. Lally introduced himself and answered some brief questions
by the Board. He assured the Board that the sale and consumption would be limited to
the lobby area.

Mr. Roccio made a motion to approve the four applications for one -day license subject to
the specified conditions. Mr. Trainor seconded the motion. Motion approved 3 -- 0.
3. Other Business —
a. Discussion as to status of license of G & J Sports, Inc. dba Sports Page Pub,
Raymond Howell , Manager. G & J Sports Inc. failed to pay the annual fee and
renew license. Board tabled further discussion relative to the status of the license,
pending legal opinion from the City Solicitor's Office.
b. Hearing no further business, Mr. Roccio made a motion to adjourn. Motion
seconded. Meeting adjourned at 7:15 pm.
Next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, February 6, 2014 at 6:30 pm in the City Council
Chambers.
