2013-10-08BEVERLY GOLF & TENNIS October 8, 2013 Meeting Minutes COMMISSIONERS Mr. Lowd Mr. Barger Mr. Crandell Mr. Lawler Mr. Richardson Mr. Lambert GFMI Mr. Carter Mr. Dionne Mr. McHugh Mr. Murphy Mr. Page Guest Mr. Dunn Mr. Lowd welcomed all the Commission members to the meeting and thanks Mr. Barger for conducting the September meeting. Meeting called to order at 7pm. Minutes for September Mr. Lawler motioned to accept the September minutes, seconded by Mr. Richardson. Motion carried 4 -0. Finance Report Mr. Lawler distributed copies of the up -to -date Finance Reports to the Commission members. Capital Improvements Mr. Dunn distributed his up -to -date Capital Improvement spreadsheet. He continued to explain they have a five -year window to deal with the ADA compliance issues. He is confidant they will be in good shape. Inside as well as outside issues need to be done. The pending projectings would have priority when funds become available. He has asked the Commission to get some estimates on the outside building stucco that needs repair. Mr. Dunn will have the architect come in and do general estimates. Mr. Richardson indicated that money is wasted each and every winter on heating this building; the heating system needs to be upgraded. The Commission has asked Mr. Dunn if the City can finish the maintenance garage for the winter. Mr. Murphy indicated that the City has a heating unit in there that needs to be installed for the winter. The wall needs to be finished to install and contain the heat. Mr. Dunn asked that Mr. Murphy send him an email with specifics and he will work on having it completed by Thanksgiving. Mr. Lawler motioned to authorize up to $15,000 to finish portion of the wall in the maintenance building to make it functional for their purpose, seconded by Mr. Crandall. Motion carried 4 -0. The Carter Report Mr. Carter distributed his Round's Report and indicated that rounds were up over last September. Mr. Dionne did a great job with the Member's Bonus Special that he ran. Members could bring up to three guests and just pay the cart fee, they got 20% off the pub and they got under a dozen new memberships. Mr. Carter stated they would do it again next year. He also stated the Beverly High School is still playing and they qualified for the State Championship. He is hoping for continued good weather for October and Mr. Dionne has one more event at the end of the month. The Page Report Mr. Page stated that the month was good, functions were good, and many have rebooked for next year. The grill room is flat and liquor is down a bit. He has indicated that they need to paint the ballroom and buy pads for chairs. The Murphy Report Mr. Murphy indicated that they cleaned up along Goodyear, the overgrown brush and right side of 13. The fall is a good time of year to do it. Mr. Carter stated that multiple cars on McKay Street are getting hit by golf balls. The state law indicates that golfers are responsible for their actions. We have however put them through our insurance. If this becomes repetitious, we may be adding on to this tee and it may require netting. Mr. Murphy stated that he is getting loam from the Essex Aggie construction site to redo the tee near McKay Street. Then they will blow out the sprinklers at the end of the month. Mr. McHugh and Mr. Dionne stated all is good. No Public comment. Meeting adjourned at 7:45pm.
