Public Meeting Minutes

Board members absent: Mary Behrle, Marshall Handly, Anthony Kline

Kevin O'Reilly presided.
Georgia Bills made the motion, seconded by Joanne Panunzio, to accept the minutes of the
regular meeting of September 30, 2014 as read. Motion passed.

Personnel: No report.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) State Financial Report: The library does not have to apply for a waiver this year. 2) FY2015
Budget: On track with this year's budget except for the van maintenance line item. Patricia
Cirone has contacted David Gelineau, the city's purchasing agent, to try to get a newer van for
the library. Georgia Bills will contact Kelly Automotive to see if there would be any interest in
donating a van. 3) Construction: The construction finish date has been pushed back to the end of
November. It is still possible that the caps on the brick walls in the Winter Street plaza will be
replaced, but not until the spring. There are still two days of roofing to be done. The Mayor
decided that the library will stay open and only close if there are fumes. 4) Union: Union talks
have started. 5) Personnel: Drew Belt, Head of Reference, has been out for a few weeks on
medical leave. 6) Security: Patricia Cirone has requested a meeting with the Mayor and Chief of
Police to discuss overall security in the building, including the possibility of hiring a security
guard. 7) 3D Printer: Patricia Cirone has started offering patron training on the 3D printer. 8)
Individualized Book Lists: The library is now offering on -line individualized book lists for adults
and teens. 9) Water Leaks: After the recent heavy rains there were several water leaks at the
Farms Branch Library and also in one of the offices on the 4 th floor at the Main Library. 10)
Programs: National Novel Writing Month program, book sale, It's Not about the Hike program,
story hours, music, arts and crafts programs.

Unfinished Business
1) Cafe: Measurements have been verified. 2) Bookmobile Trust Fund: Letter from the Friends
was sent to the City Council and should be voted out at their November 3 rd meeting.
New Business
1) Union Contract: Patricia Cirone discussed the grievance procedure in the current union
contract. Neil Olson made the motion, seconded by Joanne Panunzio, to:
remove the library trustees in any part of the grievance procedure. Motion passed.
The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at 6:30 PM at the Main
Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:25PM.
