Meeting called to order at 7pm.
Minutes for May
Mr. Lawler motioned to approve the minutes for May, seconded by Mr.
Richardson. Motion passed 4 -0.
Finance Report
Mr. Lawler distributed the Finance Report for May. He indicated that there is a
balance remaining of $6626 in the maintenance account and no change in the
bond account.
Mr. Lowd stated that the $6626 has already been allocated to signs $1805, hinges
$200, Gienapp Invoices $1870 & $2175 and carpet $300 totaling $6350.
Mr. Lawler motions to approved two invoices to Gienapp $1870 & $2175 for
services rendered, seconded by Mr. Barger. Motioned carried 4 -0.
Mr. Lawler asked if Mr. Ayles could attend the next BGT Meeting to address some
questions regarding the next fiscal year budget.
The Carter Report
Mr. Carter distributed his rounds report. Rounds showed 4936, down from 5186
last year due to weather but in line. June has been nice so far and he is
anticipating a nice month.
Mr. Carter distributed his Annual Revenue Report. He state that there are some
balances due but hopes to have that cleared up by July 1.
Mr. Carter distributed a Classification Breakdown that Mr. Crandall requested at
the prior meeting. It shows the breakdown of the individual groups. He is hoping
to get more junior members when school ends. He also stated that Dave is doing
a great job with tournament programs. People are happy playing at the BGT.
Mr. Barger would like to see an increase in membership and asked Mr. Carter if
there was a different marketing strategy they should be using to double their
membership. Mr. Carter indicated that they are using all the local advertisements
for advertising and members don't return due to medical issues.
The McHugh Report
Mr. McHugh stated that the course is in good shape, getting over the winter
damage. The spring was wet. By the end of June it should be in tip top shape. 18
and 4 are complete.
The Dionne Report
Mr. Dionne indicated that all is going well. The new Ladies program is going well,
9 to 12 girls every Wednesday and kids on weekends.
Mr. Barger stated to put more advertising into the "Recreation" book printed and
distributed by Bruce Doig.
The LaPierre Report
Mr. LaPierre indicated tennis is going well. It has been a slow spring but the court
have been resurfaced and in good condition. The largest New England Tennis
Tournament will be held here over a two weekend span. There has been an
uptake in adult /family.
The Murphy Report
Mr. Murphy distributed a measured estimate for Golf Course Maintenance
Paving. This estimated includes drainage, grading, & binder at top. This will give
the City a nice presentable Maintenance Facility on the Golf Course. Mr. Dever
would like to put in a 15% contingency fee pay until 10pm to save money. Mr.
Collins would like to see it all done at once, it would be less expensive. Mr.
Murphy would like to see it on next fiscal year budget.
Mr. Lawler motioned to allocate $23,547.10 to paving project not to exceed
$24,000, seconded by Mr. Barger. Motion carried 4 -0.
Mr. Devers took Mr. Murphy on a tour of the City. Mr. Devers furnished Mr.
Murphy with material the City recycles so Mr. Murphy will protect the 10 green
from shots on the 13 He will also starts some projects in the fall from the
material from Mr. Devers. He also thanks Mr. Devers for his City tour.
The Page Report
Mr. Page indicated that he had the ball room carpet cleaned and they need a new
carpet. He presents two estimates for new carpets; The Carpet Liquidator $7889
& Roy's Carpet $6720. Carpet Liquidator was $11,000 including stairs and foyer
hallways. 240 yards for ballroom, 373 yards for ballroom, stairs and front foyer.
Mr. Page indicated that functions are up, without carpet it would generate more
noise.
Beverly Golf & Tennis Commission Notes Status
Mr. Lowd distributed an up -to -date project list to the Commission. This list
contains projects ongoing on the Club House, Maintenance Building, Grounds,
etc. These projects may be on- going, an open item, in- process or TBD. The
Commission reviewed the list and updates were made and discussed.
The Commission will work off the Gale Report as a directive.
