Public Meeting Minutes

Board members present: Margaret Altman, Mary Behrle, Anthony Kline, Neil Olson, Kevin
O'Reilly, and Myron Schirer -Suter
Board members absent: Georgia Bills, Marshall Handly, Joanne Panunzio,
Others present: Patricia Cirone, Anna Langstaff, Bruce Doig

Kevin O'Reilly presided.
Anthony Kline made the motion, seconded by Margaret Altman, to accept the minutes of the
regular meeting of February 25, 2014 as read. Motion passed.
Kevin O'Reilly reported that sub committee assignments will remain the same.

Personnel: No report.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) FY2015 Budget: Patricia Cirone reviewed FY2015 budget. Bryant Ayles will be meeting with
the Mayor to discuss how to fund the approximately $25,000 in retro pay. 2) Trust Funds:
Patricia Cirone met with Bryant Ayles to discuss the bookmobile trust fund and a new fund
coming from a former library trustee, Susan Salt. 3) Building: Repair work has started. Shifting
of books has been completed. 4) Staff Visits: Some staff members visited Andover and Peabody
public libraries to get ideas on possible ways to reconfigure our spaces and to set up an area for
the new 3D printer. 5) Personnel: Union members have had their salaries moved to the current
contract amounts and will be getting separate checks for their retro pay soon. 6) Security: Police
Chief LeLacheur met with a small group of library staff regarding specific concerns and security
in general. 7) Evergreen Conference: Patricia Cirone attended the Evergreen International
Conference. 8) Programs: Will Barnet Reception April 27, book sale April 5 -13, Ted Reinstein
March 25.

Unfinished Business
1) Bookmobile Trust Fund: Bryant Ayles is working on the bookmobile trust fund. 2) Cafe:
Patricia Cirone and library trustees discussed several ideas on how to proceed with ideas for a
library cafe. Myron Schirer -Suter will come up with some dates and times for a site visit to the
cafe at Gordon College. Patricia Cirone will talk to other libraries that have cafes. 3) 3D Printer:
Patricia Cirone will send the proposed liability waiver and agreement forms to the city solicitor
and will bring them back to the library trustees for their review.
New Business

The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 6:30 PM at the Main Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:10 PM.
