Meeting called to order at 7pm.
Minutes for March, 2014.
Mr. Lawler motioned to approve the minutes for March, seconded by Mr.
Richardson. Motion carried 4 -0.
Finance Report
Mr. Lawler distribute the up -to -date spreadsheets for the bond and maintenance
accounts to the Commission. He indicated that there was a charge for an elevator
inspection of $800. Mr. Gelineau told the Commission to anticipate another
charge from Halley Elevator Company estimating $1900 each year.
Carter Report
Mr. Carter distributed his monthly "Rounds" report and an up -to -date
membership list. He stated that due to the weather the rounds were off to a slow
start. He indicated that they had 181 members; and they picked up two new
junior members and that he also sent out an email to members offering a $200
discount for any member bringing in a new member.
GFMI has paid their yearly fee of $370,000; and Mr. Carter also met with
Bryant Ayles, Director of Municipal Finance, and the dialogue went great.
Mr. Carter also distributed a new "BGT Annual Revenue Report listing revenue
from 2010 -2014. He will distribute this each month to the Commission. He was
pleased to announce that the City Council approved a 5 year contract extension to
GFMI. He also mentioned the flyer that was in last weeks Salem News advertising
BGT with some coupons.
He also stated that they removed two dumpsters full of junk from the basement
of the BGT clubhouse. Mr. Gelineau will advise him of the cost of the dumpster
and dumping fee, estimated at $250.
Murphy Report
Mr. Murphy indicated that the course came through the winter pretty well. There
is some ice damage on some greens but he plans on fertilizing tomorrow. He also
indicated that the DPW did a great job on the interior new maintenance garage
wall; hopes to have the heaters installed shortly.
First on his agenda is:
* First bunker the stones are coming through that need repairing
*Left side of 13, clean along street, rough grade and seed
*Grade and seed near neighbors near old maintenance garage
* Maybe make first hole a Par 5 or 4; cut front of green off, regrade, and soften
slope, probably in the Fall.
*Left side of 4, clean out the woods
* Willow tree between 4 & 5 roots interfering with drainage, may need to cut
it down; watching them closely, possibly in the fall.
Dionne Report
Mr. Dionne stated that he is always looking to bring in new members. He is
booking league now.
McHugh Report
Brian indicated that they are filling the irrigation system, getting the bunkers
ready for the season and they hired a new assistant last week. So far so good.
LaPierre Report
He stated that tennis has not started as yet; NETCO should be here on April 28 to
re -clay the courts. He is asking for the Commission to approve $17,950 for the
resurfacing of the tennis courts. He is also in the process of setting up the wind
screens, cleaning up some brush and the tennis shop needs some painting.
Mr. Gelineau inquired about other companies doing the resurfacing of the courts.
Mr. LaPierre indicated that Rotundi used to do it, Westboro uses a different
material requiring more maintenance. NETCO has been doing it for several years
now with excellent results.
Mr. Lawler motioned to approve $17,950 to NETCO for resurfacing of the tennis
courts, seconded by Mr. Lambert. Motion carried 5 -0.
Page Report
Mr. Page stated that he is getting calls for small functions. Things are moving
forward for the season. He distributed his revenue spreadsheet along with a
quote for a new stove for the kitchen. The Commission asked Mr. Gelineau to see
if TriMark is a contractor /vendor for the City.
Mr. Lawler motioned to approve but not to exceed $3500 for a new stove; subject
to Mr. Gelineau's vendor /contractor approval. Motion was seconded by Mr.
Ascolillo. Motion carried 5 -0.
Mr. Page distributed three quotes for gutter /facia board repairs for the veranda.
After much discussion; it was decided that Seaver Construction be called back to
review work that they did causing this leak on the veranda.
Mr. Ascolillo motioned to have Dale Gienapp call Seaver Contractors to revisit
work still under warranty. Work to be reviewed: flooring, ramps, down spouts,
gutters and stairs. Motion seconded by Mr. Lawler. Motion carried 5 -0.
Maintenance Building
Mr. Murphy indicated that the bathrooms need to be installed.
Mr. Gelineau indicated that Dale will update a list of ADA compliance issues that
will be reviewed by the commission.
Mr. Richardson indicated that along with the hot water system update; the
heating system needs to be included in that repair.
