2014-04BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, APRIL 7, 2014 LOCATION. Beverly Airport Administration/Maintenance Building, 46 L. P. Henderson Road, Beverly, MA, 01915 PRESENT: Commissioners Dawe, Dettorre, DiPaolo, Faulstich, Forgione, Mahoney, Nelson, Skerry, Vitale, and White ABSENT: None PUBLIC: Craig Schuster, Dave Graham, Kendylle Robinson, Wendy Beard, Richard Chase, Charlene Chase, Wes Rosen, Bill Kossowan A. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Vitale called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. 1. Pledge of Allegiance 2. Reading of the Minutes for March 2014 — Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the minutes from the March meeting. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Faulstich. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Reading of the Financial Report for March 2014 — Commissioner White presented the financial report for March 2014. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept the financial report, subject to audit. Commissioner Nelson seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. 4. Presentation(s) — • Jacob's Engineering — Craig Schuster told the commission the West Ramp Reconstruction Project would start April 14, 2014 and that there would be a pre - construction meeting on April l O th at 9:OOAM and the work week would be Monday- Friday, 7:OOAM- 3:30PM. 5. Chairman's Report — Chairman Vitale... • Told the commission that he would soon be going to Florida for two weeks and would be back around April 30, 2014. B. OLD BUSINESS: 1) Subcommittee Reports • Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee — Vice Chairman Mahoney discussed the CAT Building #45 proposal and proposed lease and airport restaurant. 1 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, APRIL 7, 2014 Motion by Vice Chairman Mahoney to approve the lease and send it to City Hall. Motion seconded by Commissioner Dettorre. Motion passed unanimously. • Noise Abatement Subcommittee — No Report (No complaints received in March) • Facility Maintenance — Commissioner Faulstich will soon begin facility inspections. • Website Management Subcommittee — Commissioner Forgione said he added West Ramp Reconstruction Project info to the airport website and said the airport website received 1,326 hits in March. • Public Relations Subcommittee — Commissioner DiPaolo said he needed more airport brochures to distribute. He also suggested having an airport information table at a downtown Beverly Homecoming location. • Airport Safety & Security Subcommittee — No Report C. AIRPORT MANAGER'S REPORT: Airport Manager Mezzetti reported on the monthly aircraft traffic count, monthly landing fee collection, upcoming MassDOT /Aeronautics programs, West Ramp Reconstruction Project, airport restaurant, airport localizer, snow season financial impact, Building #45 vandalism, the death of Commissioner Paul Barnico, and a proposed flight school. D. NEW BUSINESS: • Proposed Flight School — Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee will discuss this in May. • DayDream Design — The $300 business loss due to broken water pipes will be paid by BAC as deferred rent. • Dr. Koh Rent Reduction Request — His rent was reduced, others were increased. • Mike Duval's cleaning proposal was accepted. E. TENANT COMMENTS: • Ace Chase reported a fisher cat sighting on the airport and he reported some dumped trash by the West Side entrance road. • Bill Kossowan reported on AOPA and FAA updates. 2 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, APRIL 7, 2014 • Wes Rosen, the Tower Manager, gave the latest tower count figures. • Charlene Chase announced that the Airport Cookout could be at Hangar #4 on June th June 22 or June 29 8 at 12:30PM11:O0M. Wendy Beard of Beverly Flight Center said flight school business was down and was in favor of a downtown airport table during Beverly Homecoming. F. COMMISSION COMMENTS: Commissioner Forgione expects to get more BVY Airport hits in April 2014. G. ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn regular session made by Commissioner Forgione, seconded by Commissioner Dettorre. Motion passed unanimously.
