2014-01BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2014 LOCATION. Beverly Airport Administration/Maintenance Building, 46 L. P. Henderson Road, Beverly, MA, 01915 PRESENT: Commissioners Faulstich, Forgione, Mahoney, Nelson, Vitale, and White ABSENT: Commissioners Barnico, Dawe, Dettorre, DiPaolo, and Skerry PUBLIC: Craig Schuster, Dave Graham, Ken Robinson, Richard Chase, Charlene Chase, Bill Kossowan, and Joe Gibbons A. CALL TO ORDER: Chairman Vitale called the meeting to order at 6:00 PM. 1. Pledge of Allegiance 2. Reading of the Minutes for December 2013 — Chairman Vitale called for a reading of the minutes from the December meeting. Commissioner White made a motion to accept the minutes, seconded by Commissioner Faulstich. Motion passed unanimously. 3. Reading of the Financial Report for December 2013 — Commissioner White presented the financial report for December 2013. Vice Chairman Mahoney made a motion to accept the financial report, subject to audit. Commissioner Forgione seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously. 4. Presentation(s) — • Jacob's Engineering — Dave Graham updated the commission on the removal of tree penetrations at the end of RW 16. 5. Chairman's Report — Chairman Vitale... • Updated the Commission on the interest of a restaurateur to open a new restaurant in Building #45 • Updated the Commission on the Airport's reply to the Lucy /Stankiewictz Salem News "Letter to the Editor" B. OLD BUSINESS: 1) Subcommittee Reports • Property/Legal/Finance Subcommittee — Vice Chairman Mahoney reported on the latest status of the MassDOT /Aeronautics Division Modular 1 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2014 Administration Building Program. He also talked about the need to conduct an airport presentation for the new Mayor and new people at City Hall. • Noise Abatement Subcommittee — No Report (No Complaints) • Facility Maintenance — Commissioner Faulstich updated the Commission on the broken water pipe damage at Building #45 and gave a damage estimate of around $20,000. • Website Management Subcommittee — Commissioner Forgione reported 5,417 hits on the airport's website for the year 2013. • Public Relations Subcommittee — No Report • Environmental Issues Subcommittee (& NSCC Aviation Science Program Update) — No Report • Airport Safety & Security Subcommittee — No Report C. AIRPORT MANAGER'S REPORT: • Airport Manager Mezzetti reported on the monthly aircraft traffic count, monthly landing fee collection, removal of RW 16 tree penetrations, snow removal, Building #45 damage and the remediation and insurance process, and the status of the vacating of the airport restaurant. D. NEW BUSINESS: None E. TENANT COMMENTS: • Ace Chase reported that there is approximately one coyote taking a month on the airport. • Ace Chase also reported a voltage problem with a recently installed OPTICOM -type vehicle access device and that it would be fixed by the end of the week. • Bill Kossowan talked about the proposed drone use in the country. He said for now they could not go above 400 feet. • Joe Gibbons reported the North Shore Aero Club has sixty members and has a waiting list. 2 BEVERLY MUNICIPAL AIRPORT MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING MONDAY, JANUARY 6, 2014 F. COMMISSION COMMENTS: Commissioner Faulstich said the other non -flood damage related issues at Building #45 are concentrating on heat loss and protecting the building. Discussion on these topics was tabled. G. ADJOURNMENT: Motion to adjourn made by Commissioner Faulstich, seconded by Commissioner Nelson. Motion passed unanimously at 7:37PM.
