Public Meeting Minutes

Board members absent: Georgia Bills, Marshall Handly, Myron Schirer -Suter

Kevin O'Reilly presided.
Joanne Panunzio made the motion, seconded by Neil Olson, to accept the minutes of the regular
meeting of April 23, 2013 as read. Motion passed.
Public Presentation

Committee Reports
Personnel: Neil Olson will no longer co -chair the personnel committee. Joanne Panunzio agreed
to serve as co- chair. Only one director evaluation has been received by the personnel committee.
Administration: No report.
Finance: No report.
Long Range Planning: No report.
Report of the Library Director
1) Budget: Patricia Cirone reviewed FY 2013 budget. Patricia Cirone met with the Mayor and
John Dunn to review the proposed FY2014 library budget. Overall it met with their approval.
Library budget will be presented to the city council on June 10. 2) Building: Work on HVAC has
been completed. There is still no time frame for repair work on the skylight and the Essex Street
entrance. The new carpeting has been installed in the Barnet Gallery and Sohier Room. 3) Farms
Library: The library has taken occupancy of the former Nextel building which will be used for
storage. 4) Cafe: Patricia Cirone hopes to meet with the head of school food services with the
possibility of having them staff and run the cafe. Patricia Cirone has not been able to meet with
Mike Collins to discuss costs for installing a cafe. 5) Bookmobile: Bookmobile participated in
the "Touch a Truck" event. 6) Surgery: Patricia Cirone will be having surgery May 31 and will
be out the following week. 7) Security: Patricia Cirone is putting together a day of security
training for several NOBLE libraries. She hopes to invite Warren Graham, a leading expert in the
field of security training for libraries and librarians. Patricia Cirone would like to close the
library for the day so that all staff can attend. Cindy Roach from the MBLC approached Patricia
Cirone to see if this could be coordinated with a presentation by a speaker from Homeland
Security regarding safeguards and procedures in the event of a terrorist related event. 8)
Evergreen: NOBLE will be upgrading to Evergreen release 2.3 in early June. 9) EBook Project:
Patricia Cirone attended two days of vendor presentations. The goal is to be up and running by
mid to late summer. 10) Programs: Summer reading programs, visits to schools, patriotic themed
musical event with John Archer and Dan Murphy on July 1.

Unfinished Business
1) Bookmobile Trust Fund: Kevin O'Reilly will send a letter to the Mayor regarding the
bookmobile trust fund.
New Business
1) Meeting Time: Trustees agreed that they would like to start meetings at 6:30 instead of 7:00
PM.
The next meeting of the board will be Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 6:30 PM. at the Farms Branch
Library.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:45 PM.
