1698-03-08[Selectmen's Meeting March 8, 1698] At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 8th day of March, 1697/8, then reckoned with Constable William Cleaves with respect to a town rate committed to him, according to record on our town book dated May 28, 1697, as also with respect to the overplus of Mr. Hale's rate, as also for the County rate and all County rates, committed to him, and he the said William Cleaves hath fully paid and discharged all said rates, only he the said William Cleaves is to pay Mr. Hale's salary for said year, that is to say two and thirty pounds money, as also to pay such particular orders, as already charged upon him not already paid.
