At a legal meeting of the inhabitants Beverly, on the 23rd day of September 1698, the town did then
disown and reject the mending the highway that goeth before the house of Samuel Stone senr, concerning
there is no country way laid out there no longer than it is kept in repair, by Capt. William Dodge or his
successors.
At a legal town meeting of the inhabitants of the town of Beverly, on the 23rd day of September, 1698,
Capt. William Raymond was chosen and appointed to appear on the town's behalf at the honorable Court
of Quarter Sessions, to be holden at Newbury on the last Tuesday of this instant month of September, to
give the reasons why the town hath not repaired that way, that has been used as a country way between
the ferry and the house of Samuel Stone senr., in case the town should be there presented on the account
of said way, the said Capt. William Raymond is also chosen on the town's behalf to answer the same, as
also more that the way above said may be further settled in the same condition, it is recorded in Salem
town book, according to record dated the 27th, 9th month, 1652, or to be laid out in some other place.
