1697-12-16[Selectmen's Meeting, December 16, 1697]
At a meeting of the Selectmen on the 16 of December, 1697, then reckoned with Capt. John Dodge with
respect to several disbursements, that said Capt. Dodge laid out for the town with respect to the case
between Wenham and our town and also for boards for the watch house, and for three shillings of money
lent to purchase flints, as also for service done at the General Court in the years '93 and `96, his whole
account being £37:05:09, and it doth not yet appear the said Capt. John Dodge is paid above £24:07:09 on
which account the town now remains in the said Capt. Dodge, his debt, the sum of £ 12:18, but if it shall
appeared to be any error in this reckoning on either side, it is agreed that such error shall be rectified.
